Fundamentals of VOIP Bridge Hello everyone,
I have recently joined this forum, although I have been reading various threads for the past few days.
Being a non techie person, I wanted to understand the fundamental of the architecture here. VOIP has many solutions, VOIP PSTN bridges are the next step and we have the SPA3k and the SIPCPE 300 as various equipments available.
My scope here is phone to phone calling and not PC to phone calls.
So the specific questions are:
1. Is a VOIP phone service like Vonage, IPVaani or Tringotel required at both the ends to 'enable' the PSTN bridge feature at one of those locations?
2. If not, then what kind of devices will substitute that.
3. How do I determine the compatibility of the device I wish to purchase as a PSTN bridge for one remote end?
I have tried to search for an answer to these basic questions, but have had no success. Most of the questions and answers are very specific, although if the answer can be generalised alittle bit, maybe other folks can benefit as well. If you know of a forum where it is already answered, I would appreciate if someone can point me in the right direction.
Happy New Year folks!
Thanks,
