Default I have no dialtone on my SPA. How do I troubleshoot?

You have no dial tone on your SPA. The device is self-provisioned, i.e. you have full control over the configuration from the web interface, and not "locked" by a service provider.

Getting IVR is the first step. If you can't get IVR, that usually means a bad unit. If you can get to the IVR, try factory resetting the unit. From the IVR, press 73838#, press 1# to confirm.

Once the unit has been reset, bring up the web interface of the SPA-2002. Check to see that it is getting an IP address (presumably it can if you can get to the web interface) and see if it is getting DNS assigned by your router. Make sure the DNS server IPs listed are the same as on your PC connected to the sme router. Check with ipconfig or ifconfig as appropriate. If the DNS IPs are different, change the entries on the Sipura to match those on your PC.

Next, make sure you can resolve the SIP proxy that your provider has given you. From your PC, attempt to ping the proxy. It's quite possible a ping will fail, but it should say "request timed out" instead of "unknown host." If it says "unknown host," you either have a DNS problem or are using the wrong SIP proxy. Talk to your ISP or VoIP provider as appropriate.

Now that you've verified the basics, Now configure your device as your service provider suggests. Once you have done that and the device reboots, check the Info tab of the web interface of the SPA. Under "Registration State" it should say "Registered," "Not Registered," or "Failed."

Registered means the line is correctly authenticated and registered to use on the service provider and is ready to make calls.

Not Registered is generally reserved for unconfigured lines or where the line has been explicitly configured to NOT register.

Failed means the SPA attempted to register with the service provider, but failed to do so because either the SIP credentials were wrong or the SPA could not reach the SIP proxy for one reason or another (invalid DNS name or SIP proxy is down).
