Hello siptraffic, Where is your sip registrar? When I am in the USA and place a call through your system to the USA, what would be the route of the RTP packets. Would the RTP path be through your proxy, or directly from my ATA to termination point in USA?

Hello boatman, our sipregistrar is in Germany and the RTP path would be through our proxy. kind regards, siptraffic Last edited by siptraffic : August 27th, 2008 at 04:05 PM.

Thanks for the reply. One benefit of SIP is that two endpoints can be instructed to send RTP packets directly to each other. As it is possible, why wouldn't your system instruct RTP packets to be routed from caller's SIP unit directly to termination point?

We are working on having SIP registrar in the US as well..it just may take some time. We’ll keep you informed. kind regards, siptraffic

Why would RTP packets be routed through your proxy? It is a feature of SIP that for lowest latency and best call quality (fewer dropped packets etc.) SIP RTP packets should not be sent through a proxy, but should be routed as directly as possible. My understanding is that the most direct route through the Internet (for a USA to USA call) would be from the caller in USA to the PSTN connection point in USA. If organized that way you'd save the cost of a US-based proxy. Here on forum.voxilla.com we are always eager for technical details. Can you explain further please?

Hi siptraffic, I created account from your site. FAQ says we can make free test calls but there in none. I treid adding my IP to config but I get "Error" each time. I tried contacting customer support but no one has replied me back in last 5-6 days. And now the customer support page is not working either. So I don't know how we can get working!

Yesterday, I registered for an account and was approved for the wholesale account. However, am not sure it there other ways around its usage: I downloaded x-lite softfone and I configured it as required with my username and password. I tried to make test call BUT I got server error. Can some tell me the meaning of that? My other question is, I can not find a place to use the Bronze,Silver and Gold platform..How to initiate calls and where to find them...Is there any other device to use that am not aware of? I have used voipstunt for years and would like to try this siptrafic as it got cheaper rates. Please If anyone can do me favour, kindly look carefully to the above and reply hereinunder:

If you are concerned about voice quality caused by RTP proxy, I suggest you try grnVoIP. RTP is not proxied, allowing audio to use the shortest route between your customer and the terminating point. Great rates also, with weekly specials. Other benefits: - Unlimited channel capacity with one pre-paid balance - No recurring charges of any kind - Premium termination through Tier 1 carriers - Instant activation - Real-time CDRs and account management portal - SOAP-XML webservices for B2B access - 24 x 7 online support - Redundant facilities for mission critical uptime - No hassle money-back guarantee
