RE: Viatalk invites
I hope their system is a little more "constructed" than their website.

They haven't launched yet so their website is really bare. No way to know if their service will be good until it launches. They gave out several "hints" in their e-mail pointing to this week and "23". That lead a lot of us to think they'd launch on the 23rd, but that has not been the case yet. Depending on how many free months I get and if they offer BYOD, I may try them out.

They launched and so far their call quality whips BV and lingo for me (and they are the only VOIP company who has real e911 in my area. CallerID w/ name is nice too, BV didn't have that. Link to other thread in this forum

RE: Viatalk invites
ViaTalk announced some new conditions to their VT_500 and VTB_1500 service plans. One of the biggies is that they no longer provide free unlimited Direct Inward Dialing minutes for incoming calls. Yup, you now get charged on a per minute basis if someone calls your VOIP number. Now, not only will telemarketers waste your time, they will also waste your money when you receive their calls!

As we have stated before, ViaTalk believes that openly listening to customers and implementing their suggestions is paramount to achieving success on a long-term basis. Based on your feedback during this phase, we

RE: Viatalk invites
I have seen VoIP companies charge incoming minutes before. It's uncommon, but it happens.

RE: Viatalk invites
Yes, there are several that charge for incoming minutes. But, ViaTalk was originally not charging for incoming minutes. Then they decide to change it but only tell the "Beta Tester" about it. No mention about the VT_500 and VT_1500 plan charging for incoming calls lasting more than one minute.
The omission could be perceived as what most people assume...unlimited free incoming minutes. I know many people try VOIP as their second line and forward their PSTN to the VOIP to get free extra features (CID, VMB, etc). For those people, they will get bitten by the assumption of unlimited free incoming minutes since there's nothing about a charge on the ViaTalk web site.
