So as you know, a Vonage or CallVantage-assigned number cannot be ported to another service provider - UNLESS that number was ported in by the customer to begin with. So what I need is for someone to assign me a number temporarily which can be ported into Vonage/CallVantage - the purpose being to allow me to port it out if/when I want to switch providers. The only solution I can think of is to use a SmartNumber service like AccessLine or RingCentral to get the number, then port it to Vonage/CallVantage. Both of them have told me they do support porting numbers out. Does someone have a cleaner solution? - ben
