That's one problem that I've heard lots of people complain about when it comes to Asterisk... Since it's over the Internet, security is absolutely key. If Asterisk is hard to secure, try FreeSWITCH. It's the younger, newer, and more scalable version of Asterisk. For increased security, check out 2600hz. They use FreeSWITCH but also offer an overall platform that is much more secure with a complete fraud management system and SIP protocol. i guess there are some voip providers which can secures asterisk by theirselves if you just ask some assistance, coz i have a friend who has asterisk and the thing is... that's the time when he also changed his provider, his new provider assist him to secure his asterisk for free.. i don't know if it is still free now
