| I recently installed a talkswitch 284vs at our main office and a mediatrix device at a remote office. Both locations are using TS600 phones. I am having problems with background noise on calls including the remote office using the mediatrix and hope someone might have a suggestion. Specifically the problem is background noise when the main office (talkswitch location) is talking to the remote office (mediatrix location). The background noise is also noticeable to customers who are on a call with the remote office (mediatrix location). Customers have described it sounding like a ping-pong match or tap dancing. It’s very distracting and unprofessional sounding. Ideas, comments? Thanks -John |

| Okay I think we have finally got this solved. I was guessing it would be a codec issue and that’s what it was. If you find yourself in the same situation you may want to set the preferred codec to (g 711 ulaw) on both devices. On the talkswitch you may have two different tabs for IP configuration if using a VOIP provider. Solving this specific issue relates to setting the codec specifically for the talkswitch itself which is the SIP server. (Your VOIP provider's preferred codec is different and should be set to your VOIP providers standards.) Once the talkswitch and mediatrix were both configured to the preferred codec of (G 711 ulaw) and reset everything on that leg of the phone system cleared up and the conversations are now louder. Thanks talkswitch tech support! Related Equipment: Talkswitch 284vs Mediatrix 2102 |
