| We have just set up a Talkswitch 48-CVA at our business. Works fine. The boss hates dialing a '9' to call out. The guy who set it up for us said changing that config setting would mess up a whole bunch of other stuff on the phone/system. Is anyone else not having to dial a '9' and what features did you have to change or lose when you did? Thanks bunches. Johnny |

| I can't believe how often people still object to dialing 9 before making a call! Anyway, you can, in fact, set up phones on the TalkSwitch system for direct line access where an end-user just picks up his/her phone and immediately gets outside dial-tone. The reason this set up is not recommended is that it requires end-users to press Flash before using any of the internal features of the system. For example, instead of just picking up the phone and dialing someone's extension to call internally, one has to press Flash plus the extension number. To check voice mail, Flash plus Voice Mail button. To page, Flash plus Page...you get the idea. I had a doctor's office recently that started out with direct line access but went to "dial 9" within a week because of the frustration involved with the Flash operation. The good news is that this setting can be changes on a per extension basis. If your boss demands direct lines access, you can make that change on just his/her phone and leave the other extensions in dial 9 mode. If you need help setting this up, feel free to give shoot me an e-mail. |
