I totally agree with what you are saying. I believe we both will be proven correct.

Don't forget that Skype also uses the network bandwidth that YOU pay for and give it to others to use. This "shared node" model is like buying a car but agreeing to let strangers drive it anytime they want.

Also, the 150,000 new customers each day is more than a little bit misleading. Skype, being an instant messenger service, is behaving very much like AIM, MSN Messenger and the like. AIM routinely registers 150,000 new Screen Names in a day. Users are constantly abandoning old names, taking new ones, and taking new ones in order to divide their address books into more manageable chunks. No doubt, Skype users are exhibiting the same behavior. Nobody knows how many of these new user names represent truly new users. Certainly, it is not in Skype's interest to divulge this information and dilute the number.

You can use the chat-cord that Voxilla sells and use Skype with a regular cordless phone. It's really very nice.

The Chat Cord still requires that you be at the PC to hear it ring, answer a call, place a call and finish a call. For me, I'll stick with plugging ordinary phones, wired and cordless, into my Sipura and Grandstream ATAs.

Actually, the Chat Cord with the Skype specific software for Windows eliminates some of that unpleasantless. It is possible to make and receive calls to your telephone handset and, yes, hang up.
