Default Re: PBX trunk to VOIP

I was just investigating possibilities of using Skype to make business calls and discovered something called Skip2PBX which is made in Italy. Usually all I hear about is Vosky or now a friend was saying he read about something called Skystone. Anyway this Skip2PBX seems to be built with a Linux core that surpasses a lot of limitations and problems you find with Windows based (like Vosky) products and I would imagine in this case, what I would assume is a Windows based Skystone. I’ve checked into this matter and seems I only fine single-line suggestions or maybe a proposal that would cover between 4 and 8 lines, but this Skip2PBX says that THEY go up to 30 lines at the same time. I called their customer service department(very helpful!) and asked about SIP functions and the man there told me they are in the process of fine-tuning their SIP features and that also will be ready sometime pretty soon.
I found'em at Skip2PBX - Skip2PBX - Soluzione software per collegare Skype al centralino
Anybody else know about this?

mmm smells like spam...

There are many other brands available, you cant honestly think that skype makes it special?

Skypes rates arent that great compared to sip termination.

I actually need a skype gateway in my company... I've seen about skip2pbx and skystone and some others... is there anyone that can give me a feedback about them?

Which one is the best?

skip2pbx has a free trial and looks well put together. I've downloaded their software, but I haven't had a chance to test them out yet.

The skystone solution looks to be centered around Cisco's CallManager and appears to be a bit more involved.

Both are expensive solutions and unless you have to use Skype (their rates are not very good either), the SIP providers offer much better pricing and cheaper solutions.

Uhm... sincerely I prefer a linux based solution more than a CISCO partner... you know what I mean .

Looking around in internet I've seen that skip2pbx has a lot of functions and it is linux based!! SkyStone is MS based and I'm concerned about compatibility problems with Vista.

I think I have to test them, but it seems that skip2pbx could be the best solution for me.

Thank you anyway!

I have to say... I installed both skystone and skip2pbx.

SkyStone is simple and quick to install, but it is really poor of functions!

Skip2pbx takes more time to install, but it is full of interesting functions and a well done in-line documentation!

I'm using asterisk as PBX in my company and I was happy to find a ready to cut and pase code for asterisk in the wizard config of skip2pbx. I had it working in 5 minutes!

Both of them have a good voice quality and a well done web interface.

While configuring skip2pbx I had a doubt about the SIP registration and I sent a ticket. I had a reply in 15 minutes! I was surprised to have a so quick reply for an evaluation version.

I think I will use skip2pbx, it actually seems to be the best solution for me.

Thank you anyway eric for your suggestions.

Hi, it's me again. Jeffrey Everson. I was just poking around to follow up on these very comparisons between SkyStone and Skip2PBX, plus I wanted to see what other developments regarding SIP and Skype were now out there.
I must also add that I have continued to work with Skip2PBX and it is everything it claims to be. The fact that it now supports SIP is a nice step forward regarding the comments above and I continue to find the immunity to any Skype worms or viruses very reassuring. Call quality and other features continue to speak for themselves as well.
