Default Phone Adaptor for Skype supporting both MS and Linux

Hi,
I am looking for Phone Adaptor for Skype to plug my traditional phone into. Is there an adaptor that would support both MS Windows and Linux? Even more preferable is that this adaptor can work independently without PC being on all the time.

I have been Googling for a while, but found nothing. Please help.

Thanks.

I would like to know too. But if there was an adapter that wasn't dependent on your PC, and needed to be plugged into a USB port, I think it would be right there on Skype's website.
That's the big drawback for Skype vs. traditional SIP VoIP. One positive is Skype runs on plain-old port 80, thus gets around many firewalls. So Skype can run from my PC at work, where on the otherhand, an X-Ten softphone cannot.

This looks like the Chat Cord thing we sell in the Voxilla Store except it has an external power supply rather than being powered by USB. I can confirm the Chat Cord works with Linux.

The Chat Cord is also significantly cheaper than this device, though it also looks like this device automatically shuts off the speakers and does echo cancellation. Seems a bit pricey, though.

Hi PhoneBoy,
I found the Chat Cord here:
http://store.voxilla.com/customer/pr...7&cat=0&page=1
But when I click on the FAQ, the page could not be displayed?
http://www.chat-cord.com/FAQ.htm

Would you send me more info on it?

It looks like I can install a software to allow me to dial and pick up phone call from the traditional phone, which the PhoneBridge does not allow me to do. This software may run on Windows only.

Thanks.

There is a typo in the link. It should be http://www.chat-cord.com/faq.htm. I will get this corrected in the Voxilla Store.

There is Skype software that will let you dial PSTN calls (or even Skype-to-Skype calls) from the handset. It is Windows only, that is correct.
