Default All I can say is Skype is working hard to stay in the game.

It seems skype is working very hard to compete with sip.
I've been using skype for the past few months and I have to say call quality is much superior to sip providers such as broadvoice, ipcall and freeworld dialup. On their website they are even showing that president bush received a skype phone as a gift. And with 3rd party add ons such as iskoot we are begining to see a bridging into the pstn. Iskoot will be offering their services to other im type providers such as google talk yahoo, etc...
So far this is a major convenience to be able to make and receive calls from your cell phone to skype contacts or phones world wide.
We shall see what will happen to the wifi phones although skype has an application for these phones as well. If metropolitan cities will offer free wifi accesspoints to the same extent as cell towers we will see more people using voip. As it stands now skype appears as it is something that is here to stay.

Are you saying this with respect to terminating to the PSTN or IP to IP ? Skype is a simple point and click sollution that involves a PC. At home, I cant envisage my wife having to use a PC to make a call.

I've got 3 asterisk boxes that provide the same look and feel of a standard phone so the family dont have to change ANY habits except we dont have LARGE bills.

Pete
