This group is a great addition. I have experience with Asterisk and SER, and have been quite interested in what sipX can do. I look forward to learning about sipX here.

Have you clicked on the link I mentioned in the announcement? There you will find a link to the sipXphone, including source and Win32 builds.

Thanks for your interest in sipX and sipXphone - we are quite excited too.,

The sipXphone is still a bit in flux and we are planning a more formal launch shortly. There still is a bit of documentation missing and we are working on a Linux version.

Have a look at our Wiki which is currently at http://sipx-wiki.calivia.com.

sipXphone is a very robust SIP phone with full Java application support. This phone was formerly known as the Pingtel xpressa phone, where the software was identical for both the hard phone and the softphone (for all those who remember).

There also is sipXezphone, which is a more simple UI implementation based on the sipXtapi SDK. The Wiki includes some basic information already, but as I said, we hope to have more soon.

Please feel free to add your application or experience to the Wiki as well. I'd love to read about it.

One thing I hope you're working on is making the configuration of the soft phone less obtuse. When I played with the Pingtel Soft phone a month or two ago, I found it impossible to get configured to work with anything other than making outbound calls by SIP URL.

I'll have to have a look at sipXezphone when it becomes available, or if you could point me in the direction of a build of it, I'll look now.

RE: sipXphone

sipXezPhone is very much a work in progress. There is currently no binary distribution, but the Windows build instructions can be found in the SIPFoundry repository. The project exists as an Example under sipXcallLib. (http://www.sipfoundry.org/sipXcallLib/index.html) The phone should be buildable on Linux (with wxWidgets and glib), but to my knowledge, that has not been done yet.

For all those interested in sipXphone: A first set of documentation is now available on http://sipx-wiki.calivia.com.

We hope this is a beginning to making it less obtues. Flexibility and features means complexity and we hope you would agree that there is a lot to work with here

They have a debian ebuild for it. Hm... I'll have to take a look.

The sipXpbx project is happy to announce that we have released a Beta version 2.8.0. Downloads are available here http://www.sipfoundry.org/sipX/downloads.html

A full set of change notes will be forthcoming soon, but suffice to say that it has many improvements, especially in configuration.

The installers and (now signed!) yum repositories are available for the Beta release at:
http://www.sipfoundry.org/pub/sipX/test/

Additional documentation is on the sipX Wiki at http://sipx-wiki.calivia.com

So - those of you who like to use the latest and greatest you can without using a C++ compiler - go get it.

Coming soon - Nightly Builds of mainline (for those who _really_ like pain).
