| Dear All, I've just started studing VOIP and for the first try, I've downloaded and installed sipXvxml (along with all libraries it need). As I'm truly novice to VOIP, I don't know how I can verify if my sipXvxml is working fine or not. To be more precise, I want to know: [note: my install base is Fedora Core III, on a P4 Intel notebook] 1) If I need any special hardware to test sipXvxml with a soft phone 2) If I need to run sipXvxml with a superuser account, or an ordinary account will suffice 3) Apart from sipXvxml and all libraries it needs to be compiled and run, and of course a softphone, should I install another application 4) At the softphone, which account should I call Note that as I was trying to provide just a basic test environment, I didn't run any SIP server (proxy, registrar, locator, etc), assuming that IP address of the callee is known. I'll really appreciate if anybody can give me the answers I need, or point me to document/web page which I can find the answers. Sorry if I'm missing some important points, but as newcomer to VOIP I don't know many things!! Thanks in advance, --faramarz |
