Default Bandwidth.com, Edgemarc & SipXecs

Anyone able to configure Sipxec with an edgemarc & bandwidth.com. It should be very simple. I have a televantage working on this topology now but we need to upgrade. The Edgemarc provides an endpoint on the LAN along with the PBX/phones.

I have a sipviewer trace here:
http://pastebin.com/m9507ff6

Basically it does not connect but I get a 408 ITSP timeout. I have installed the internal SBC.

My softphone says "Not available with the 408" But my mobile phone rings. So it looks like the Edgemarc is not giving a response the SipXecs server can recognize or sending to the wrong place.

This whole setup works fine with televantage. It was just plug & play, I put the IP address & it worked.

Well I just got an idea. The sipxbridge listens on port 5080, but the edgemarc is forwarding to 5060. This worked with the televantage and probably asterisk where it does everything on that port. Since the SipXec has all these different components it has separate ports.

I will try that tomorrow in the office. The Edgemarc has a wonderful feature of completely hanging when you make a change to VOIP settings and requires a restart.

My name is Chris Moody and I work at Bandwidth.com. I saw this linked on Twitter and forwarded your question to our two VOIP Heroes.

They said that your second post should solve your problem. If it doesn't let us know via Twitter, @bandwidth and we'll try to help out.

Have a good one!

Best,
Chris

Chris

Pretty cool that you picked up this post. Thanks for the feedback from your tech guys. I can only try in the evenings after most of our office leaves.

SipX took a lot of playing around with, but I hope I have things squared away now.

Thanks,
Ankur

Hey, just an update. That port change did resolve my issue. The system is working like a charm. Is quite amazing. I had to play with SipX for a while, but it seems to be working seamlessly.

Thanks for the support Chris

Ankur

As a followup to this issue. I used the internal SBC with the SipX 'sip trunking' But I had issues. I assume it is taking all media through the server. A few times the CPU went to 100% and the quality started going bad. I filed a bug on the SIPX site for this.

My question is what is the best way to setup SipX with this configuration. I tried using an internal SBC with SIP Trunking but I thought it was not necessary since it is all on the same subnet.

As I mentioned, I had issues with it. The java process would go to 100% cpu and the voice quality was having issues.

Does the SIP trunking routes all voice media through the SipX server?

Can I set it up so that SipX will route calls directly from my phone on the LAN to the ITSP on the LAN? If so then how do I setup the gateway. I am trying now with the gateway on port 5080 and the SBC on 5060? The router will forward all SIP traffic to port 5080 which the SIPX needs to listen on. I am not able to get any calls out yet though.
