I respectfully disagree with your analogy, because it is not quite proper. I have registered all my Polycoms in their web site: http://www.polycom.com (click where it says: Support | Support Ticket) The only support I am talking about in this particular thread is that which is provided through their web site. The service of Voxilla sucks as well. My guess is that they are victims of their own success. If there is a procedure for them to provide me with MY FIRMWARE, for which I have purchased about a dozen Polycom phones, I ignore it. They simply won't give me such software+firmware. I have made every possible attempt I can think of. That's another story, covered in my thread: "Did I make a mistake buying Polycom from Voxila?" -RFH |

Respectable companies such as Cisco have something called pride and do their best to make sure that we -their customers- are running the latest&greatest software. > The most current version available to consumers is 2.2.2. No. The most current version available to consumers is SIP 3.0. I had to obtain it through other means as Voxilla simply will not provide it. -Ramon |

| You are a consumer and not a reseller. Therefor the latest version available to consumers directly from Polycom is 2.2.2 and not 3.0. Cisco gives you no software for most of their equipment unless you have a paid support contract with them. Even then many of the interim build are only available to select customers. You must have been referring to Linksys, which is Cisco's CONSUMER divison. You can NOT get SIP software upgrades for ANY of Cisco's phones witout a support contract. (Meaning non-linksys) You should be happy that Polycom is GIVING away software for their phones. If Polycom made you pay for a support contract in order to be able to download new software then thsi whole thread would not even exist. In your first post you asked what FTPS is (Which translates to "I don't even know what I am doing). The definition is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FTPS Next you chided Polycom for not recommending an FTPS server. Most vendors don't recommend a third party product. A simple google search would have turned up: http://www.sofotex.com/download/FTP_...e/Ftp_Servers/ If you need more spoon feeding, please let us know. | Personally, I use drivehq for ftping. I don't have to host any files and I can work on changes locally before making them available to all the other sites. I have 5 polycoms in 4 sites. Works for me... |
