Default polycom, sip 2.0.x, problems with asterisk and presence / buddy watch

Has anyone else experienced or better yet been able to identify the problem I am having with the Polycom SPIP phones, the SIP application >= 2.0.1, and the presence system? I have an unchanged configuration for asterisk using the 'hint' priority which used to properly notify a Polycom phone if the status of a 'buddy' had changed. After upgrading the Polycom firmware from 1.6.7 to 2.0.2 the Polycom phones refuse to update the display status of the 'buddy' or light the corresponding LED if the 'buddy' is listed on 601 or expansion module.

Traffic appears to be generated by the asterisk server as expected; nothing has changed on that side. But the Polycom will not update the status of the 'buddy'. I have since reverted to 1.6.7 until I figure out what is going on.

Anyone have any insight on this issue?
