Default Polycom IP7000 on Call Manager 6

Hi All,

I am currently trying to connect up a Polycom IP7000 to call manager 6. Due to Cisco disabling the link ports on the 7937G I need the IP7000.

However, setting it up does not seem to be straightforward with both companies not able to give me any info.

I have followed this guide on the net:

http://www.screentoaster.com/watch/s...allmanager_6_1

However, the guy seems to get stuck on adding the Network and SIP settings to the Polycom which is what I need!

I can login to the web portal and now reset the device from the page but Call Manager does not recognise the device.

Any help would be most appreciated. I basically need the end part of the video!

I've been trying to get our IP7000 up and running on an Avaya phone system. I'm getting it to register, but it doesn't stay registered....

I followed the Word document here: http://kosmo.homedns.org/IP7000/

It's based around the Avaya system, but if you've got the Cisco part setup for your system already, you should just be able to follow the Polycom portion of the document.

Good luck!

Sorry no Pictures inlcuded

Possibly Update 1st to the latest SIP Version via:

You can just update the SSIP 7000 via the following way and download the Firmware and Bootrom from Polycom’s dedicated SoundStation IP 7000 Server.

Please read Page 10 in the following guide:

http://www.polycom.eu/global/documents/support/setup_maintenance/products/voice/ssip_7000_HDX_Integrat_Guide_English_RevA.pdf

Configuration Example:

On the Cisco Call Manager© click on User Management and select End User
Step 1: Add New User

The User ID can reflect the SIP Extension that will be assigned to the Polycom SoundPoint® IP or SoundStation® IP.
If the Customer uses Active Directory or does not want to use numerical User ID’s a alpha numerical entry (name etc) can be created.
• A minimum 5 Digit Password must be used. This Password is only used CCM© internally
In above example 12345 is used.
• The same Value is used for the PIN.
The Pin is the authentication Password used on the SoundStation® IP or SoundPoint® IP Phone.
• The Last Name Entry is used to identify this User and is mandatory
Once above is added click on the Save Icon to store the information.
This must be repeated for every SIP Extension that will be added to the Cisco Call Manager© 5.1.

On the Cisco Call Manager© click on Device and select Phone

Click on Add New and select a Third Party Sip Device and click on Next to proceed

Add the Mac Address of the SoundPoint® IP or SoundStation® IP Phone and ensure that you select the Phone Button Template as highlighted and the Owner User ID should reflect the SIP DDI that you have above assigned to the User.

Then choose the Device Security Profile, SIP Profile and the Digest User as highlighted below and press save to store this Information within the Cisco Call Manager©.

Click on Add a new DN Button in order to assign the Selected SIP Extension

Add the desired SIP Extension and add the Alerting Name:

The Description is used internally only.
Alerting Name is displayed whilst a SIP Device rings another Device. Once connected the Display (Internal Caller ID) shown

The Display (Caller ID) and ASCII Display (internal Caller ID) is a feature that displays the added entry on Cisco© Phones when they receive a call from a Polycom SoundStation® IP or SoundPoint® IP.

The Display (Internal Caller ID) is displayed on outgoing Calls on the ringing B-End
External Phone Number Mask is for Cisco© Phones only

After this finalize this process via clicking on the Save Button.

Configuration on the Polycom® Phone Menu:

• Press the Menu Button
• Choose (3) Settings
• Choose (2) Advanced
• Password is 456
• Choose (1) Admin Settings
• Choose (2) SIP Configuration
• Select Server and add the IP Address of the Cisco Call Manager©
Confirm this selection and scroll down to Line1:
• Enter a Display Name
• Add the SIP Extension that was added within the Call Manager Menu as the Address
• Add the SIP Extension that was selected as the Username within the Call Manager User Menu as the Auth User ID
• Add the 5 digit Auth Password that was selected as the PIN Entry within the Call Manager User Menu.
• Optional add a Label that will be displayed next to the Line Key
• Press exit until the Prompt comes to save the Settings and the Phone will reboot after this

Configuration via the Polycom® Phone Web interface:

Browse to the Phones Web Server

Username: Polycom
Password: 456

Line Settings:

· Add the SIP Extension that was added within the Call Manager Menu as the Address

· Add SIP Extension that was added within the Call Manager User Menu as the Auth User ID

· Add the 5 digit Auth Password that was selected as the PIN Entry within the Call Manager User Menu.

Sip Server Settings:

Just add the IP Address of the Cisco Call Manager in the Server 1 Selection

A successful registration is shown in the Device – Phone selection.
The search result can be limited to SIP Devices only:

Hi,

First of all thanks very much for you detailed responses. It's been a great help and I am def a lot closer.

However, I still cant get the IP7000 to show as register in call manager. We are running ccm 6.0.

The device is assigned an IP address and I can access the web portal. I have an internel extension assigned from ccm. In this case 45995.

When I follow the above the device comes up and displays 45995 and I get what would appear to be a dial tone but nothing more. I am unable to dial out or receive calls. Should I be seeing it as registered in ccm?

Is there any additonal settings I should look at?

Thanks again for your help with this.

Can you see the Status of the Phone like this:

Can you attach&post some of your screenshots as I am unable to edit my post now.

The Dialtone is produced locally by the IP7000 Phone. Can you call the Phone itself..?

Hi, got it now thanks!

Just ordered the module to link them together.

Have you ever tried this?

Also, have a another question related to call pickups groups if ok!

I understand what associating call pickups does but cant get me ahead around prority. Will this only be important when lots of calls come in? and when people are using Opickup?

Could you state what was wrong with your initial issue so other users finding this post may not make the same mistake?

The Pick Up Group issue is more a call manager related issue and has nothing to do with 3rd Party SIP Devices.

Hi,

apologies I should share for all, the issue related to the settings we placed on the IP polycom.

Basically, in an attempt to get it working we added lots of information....IP Gateway etc.

We realised that you dont need all this information. You simply enter the min config of Auth Username and Password along with the Call Manager address. We also had DHCP enabled as standard.

It came up with no issues. The documentation provided in this thread is all you need.

Thanks again for your help and I'll open another thread for the call pickup query.

Thanks for the postings guys, very helpful.

I've managed to get an IP 7000 working on a Virgin Media(NTL Telewest) system. Most important is to get the latest firmware from the polycom provisioning server as pt-1 suggested.

Most of the rest of the setup I just left as default.

Cheers
