Default Polycom 501 making little "blip" noises every few minutes.

They're very quiet, almost undetectable. For the first few days after I setup the phone system, I thought I was going crazy, but someone else noticed them too. Just every few minutes it emits a slight "blip" noise, that goes for about a tenth of a second.

Has anyone seen this before? How would I fix it?

Is there a voicemail waiting (red light flashing)?

I just setup a bunch of Polycom 601 phones in my office and am noticing the message waiting blips as well. Is there any way to turn this sound off?

I feel like the blinking light is plenty!

Thanks,
Aaron

No! Thats whats driving me crazy. If it's a voicemail message I could figure it out. This seems to be something much more subtle.

No-one experienced this before? I'm the first ever?

I have 20+ IP430's that do the same thing. In addition to the beep when a voice mail is present the phones also seem to do this when they get a new configuration from the central server.

I have also heard them do this for no apparent reason that I can discern.

I wonder if there is a way to replace the "Beep" tone with a silent tone or .wav file?

Not sure about the other reasons, but if you want to turn the blip off as a message waiting indicator as I did, then edit your sip.cfg like this:

Change this:
<MESSAGE_WAITING se.pat.misc.1.name="message waiting" se.pat.misc.1.inst.1.type="chord" se.pat.misc.1.inst.1.value="1" se.pat.misc.1.inst.2.type="chord" se.pat.misc.1.inst.2.value="2" se.pat.misc.1.inst.3.type="chord" se.pat.misc.1.inst.3.value="1"/>

to this:
<MESSAGE_WAITING se.pat.misc.1.name="message waiting"/>

This works on a 601 but I believe it applies to all sound point models.
