Default Buddy watch problem for Polycom IP601 Version 2.0.X

Has anyone get passed this problem? I saw several threads about this issue but no one has responded to this with a resolution. Once an answer is found, it just gets unposted. It would really help others if you guys post when you have found a fix for it.

Thanks in advance.

The buddy watch got broken in 2.0 apparently. It got fixed again in 2.0.3. My advise is to run version 2.0.3 or greater on the phone. Later versions of Asterisk also apparently work with 2.0.1 and 2.0.2.

Thanks Polyman. I hope there are many more generous people like you to get us moving on. I will give it a try and let the rest know how it went. Even the local Polycom support here did not give a helpfull answer when I asked them: Quote " Asterisk is the Polycom VoIP Interoperability Partner only. Polycom will not support this softswitch directly". Booo.. to Polycom and Yeah.. to this great forum.

No worries. Yeah I think Polycom support only support their resellers - that's been my experience with them anyway.

Hi Polyman

I have both good and bad news. We have upgraded the IP601 to version 2.1.0 and we can see lights now! The presence works and the buddy status shows up. The bad news is it only allows up to 17 buttons to be programed including the 5 buttons on the phone unit. We have two extension module but we can't add the more 17 in total. Looks like the 2nd modules can't be used at all. Could it be another bug Polycom overlooked?

No, I've seen all 3 expansion modules full of lights plus the 6 line keys on the phones. What's stopping you programming more than 17 buttons?

I have a Polycom 301 with * and have the Buddy Watch working from from in the Buddy Status screen on the phone with only one contact in my directory. I have my first line key registered to *. I have my single contact set with speed dial index 1 and it shows up under the second line key as expected. The only problem is that I'm not getting in presence information on the line key. The icon for my 2nd line key is a series of dots in the shape of a baseball home plate.

The status is correct in the buddy status window under the "Buddies" soft key, just not where the buddy shows up under the line key. Many other people claim to have this working. Can someone please tell me what's going on here?

The IP301 has a character based display - it's not graphical to my knowledge. Based on this fact, I'm not sure that presence information can be displayed on the screen...I could be wrong - I haven't tried setting up buddy watch on an IP301.

That is definitely not the case as there are animations next to the line key with the SIP registration. Any other ideas? Anyone successfully done this on a 301?

Now that I've looked closer, the icon next to the line key with the speed dial (presence) contact is a dial pad icon.
