Default Question 'bout mobilegnome

Quote:
Enter the phone number of the phone you wish to use to access PhoneGnome features and then when you call your home number from that phone, instead of your phone ringing, PhoneGnome will answer, and upon entering of a valid PIN code, you’ll get a dialtone and you can place a call, just as if you were at home.
if i'm not mistaking, this sounds like a DISA feature?

I ask, because we're thinking of putting up an asterisk server, which supports this feature and obviously is interesting when traveling.

That's exactly it. It's DISA, which by the way is a "Standard feature" on the SPA3000. PhoneGnome just makes it about a bazillion times easier to configure than a stock SPA3000.

If we had a bunch of landlines sitting behind an * server, would there be any compelling reason preferring DISA through phonegnome for each registered landline, rather than over the * server itself?

With *, you probably get a lot more control over it than you get with PhoneGnome.
