Question Free cell phone minutes

Hello everyone, my name is Frank. I have two quick questions:

1. I will be getting my gnome in a couple of days. Recently I saw a add from T-mobile saying that I can call five people from my cell for free. My question is does the phonegnome have pass through calling? In other words could I make my home number one of my no cost calls of my Tmobile plan and then make my phonegnome make other calls to other people. My reasoning on this is I would never have to use my Tmobile phone miniutes since I would always call my "favorite" phonegnome number. This would equate to me being able to talk to anyone at any time with out mounting cell phone bills. I'm not worried about the phonegnome side of things, since that would be cheap.
2. I have DSL, can I connect the phone and the gnome thru one port using a splitter jack? Most rooms only have one phone jack. What have other people with DSL been doing?
3. If this works is their a place on here to sell my SPA 3000 and SPA 2000? Even though I'm a network administrator I have yet to be able to set any of those two boxes up properly.

Cool Re: Free cell phone minutes

I have just read about mobile gnome. This meets some of my requirements, but, is there a solution to reach the my gnomephone from any phone and direct call through the gnome?

There are couple of ways:

1. if there is a web browser at the location, you can use 'remote click to dial' to initiate the call from the remote location using the browser and have PhoneGnome ring that remote location to place the outbound call. To use this feature, on your My PhoneGnome site, navigate to Contacts and then click the 'Set Click-to-Dial' link.

2. if you have a mobile with a data plan and Java support, download the application here: PhoneGnome API - Contributed File pg.jad Install the application on your mobile phone. With this app, you can download your My PhoneGnome contacts to your mobile, and click to place a call through your Gnome account.

3. You could setup a DID that rings to your MobileGnome service and then from there you could place a call using the Gnome. Use IPKALL for a free Washington state DID or purchase DIDs in other locations from our partner DID World Wide for about $5/month.

For more information on using SIP with PhoneGnome see the following: PhoneGnome :: Help

Thank you for your prompt response. Maybe I should have been more specific with my question: I will have the tmobile favorite five dialing plan. This is cheaper than my current plan, this plan allows me to call five numbers and not count against my cell phone "miniutes", and yes I do have a data plan. What my deduction is that if I add my home number(phonegnome) to my plan, theoritically, should I be able to call my phonegnome from my cell phone and initiate a call to anyone via transfer; thereby making every call a call to my favorite five dialing plan. I realize I may seemed overjoyed about this prospect, but that would mean unlimited calling at anytime for my cell phone for a set price. If I do as you say and initiate a click to call from the Internet, I will still be using my cell miniutes.
Thanks..

Right. MobileGnome will let you do this, assuming you have 'unlimited calling' on your PhoneGnome setup. You would call your home number and then you'll get a dial tone to place the outgoing (VoIP) call. Caller-ID service on your home phone service will make it more convenient to use the MobileGnome feature (so PhoneGnome can identify your cell phone when it calls). There are work-arounds if not, but having Caller-ID service (from the phone company) on the home phone line makes it more convenient.

You can purchase the PhoneGnome box (Shop PhoneGnome - Call 888-891-6390 or Voxilla -- PhoneGnome) and then activate a free 30-day trial of the MobileGnome feature to try before you buy (30-day money-back guarantee on PhoneGnome box).

It should work in India. If you don't have Caller ID service on your India telephone line, you'll have to have PhoneGnome answer all calls and prompt all callers for the MobileGnome PIN (if they fail to authenticate 3 times, their call is passed through, so you can still receive calls, but it's less convenient - if you only use the line for MobileGnome, then this issues doesn't really matter).

Actualy there is a very easy way to do the TMobile Fave5 (Or for Sprint get Sprint to Home)

You can test out what I say on a free trial. Go to VoiceStick.com - The Internet Phone for cheap local and long distance calling and sign up for the free Next to Nothing program. You will get a welcome letter, it has an express code. That code gives you a free $5 credit to use like cash.

Voicestick has call forward which will give you free incoming minute (They have no charge for incoming) AND the BIG THING is that they have the reverse of call forward, they have a web bridge.

Just register your cell number in the bridge, and make it one of your Fave5 (or Sprint to Home) numbers.

Now just predial your voice stick number and you will get a fresh dial tone. Make all the out calls you want for 2 cents a min (Or an unlimited for $19 a month)

So you get to try a free incoming number, and voice mail with no start up or termination fee and get $5 to try the out call.

The only catch is you need Pay Pal or a CC which they use to id you and limit you to one free account. They don't charge the card.

I have been doing this for months!!
