Would it be possible to convert/reconfigure this device back to being a generic Sipura 3000? Before jumping on this and saying

PhoneGnome is an unknown quantity at this point
Default RE: Convert PhoneGnome to Generic Sipura 3000

A factory-shipped PhoneGnome has specific customizatiions and cannot be converted into the exact same thing as a generic SPA3000. That said, it would be possible to make it more like an SPA-3000 for your situation, but currently that kind of "retrograde" is not part of our plans.

We plan to do the opposite at some point, allowing people to upgrade their generic SPA3000 with PhoneGnome cababilties, in order to get the exact benefits you describe above.

That sounds good. I can definately see some people wanting to do this. In my antisipated configuration I probably will not do this but I will certainly recomend this to others. It is nice to know the option will be there.

Default I think you should provide this 'feature'

I would like to buy a PG device. But I would feel a lot better doing that if I have the option of just 'making' it into a SPA-3k device later if I needed to for some reason. I bought an SPA-3k device earlier this year to install in India. It took me a few days of reading and playing around with to configure it. So this does provide that ease of use to forego that. I am a technical person but sometimes I can't afford the time required for these complex setups. But if I needed a certain feature which PG didn't support(I assure you there are going to be some) and I had the time, I might want to be able to 'convert' it back to the original(SPA) device. I think you should provide the technical users the option of requesting an unlock code upon request. I wouldn't mind paying a small 'unlock fee' of $5 or $10. Anything more I would probably balk at.
For starters as someone posted you don't support BV which would be nice to add.

Obviously this is Rev 1 of the PhoneGnome product and more features and functions will be forthcoming. We will note your requests in our allocations of development resources.

Hi,
I have the same request of ashinusa, I am also a technical person for the portuguese market with the same problems:

"I can't afford the time required for these complex setups".
Don´t have time to 'convert' it back to the original(SPA) device.

Pay for a Unlock key, its a excellent idea.

Best Regards,
Paulo Gomes

I'd sure like that option, to order a plain SPA3000 from Germany (or other fellow EU country with low tax fees) and buy the firmware as a direct download here in Finland. When this should be possible?

So, if I BYOD my SPA3000 to PhoneGnome, and you supply an upgrade, will I be able to revert back to a generic SPA-3000 with Linksys/Sipura's firmware off their website, when I choose to leave PhoneGnome? or I am stuck with a firmware that you have supplied me, that I am doomed to keep.

Thanks.
