Its there any benefits / disadvantages using PhoneGNome over IPVaani? Which is better? I know IPVaani adaptor allows you to use your regular phone set and also it is $85 a piece. I have not used any of these though. Looking to buy one either PhoneGNome or IPVaani for calling US to/from India.

Hi, Let me explain my experience with IPvaani service....hope this may help you. I have came to know through my friends regarding IPvaani in May when I was searching for voip service. I thought buying vonage or some other for my parents and in-laws. My friend referred me ipvaani and bought 2 devices, installed one device in Gujarath, India. and one in USA. quality is good and took 2 weeks for my parents to udjust with device and understand on "How it works". after couple of months about another device for my in-laws and one for my brother who stas in Australia. Now, all my family connected with ipvaani and can call any one for free and calling to india is so simple and even I can conferance people. I don't have any idea phonegnome and looks to me, it is similar to Ipvaani. But, I have seen ipvaani is most popular among india community. All the best for your search.. -Patel.

IPVaani appears to be a regular stand-alone VoIP service, like essentially all the others, a separate "bat phone". In some cases that's what people want. PhoneGnome is different in that it melds these free IP calls with your existing phone service. You use the same phone to make free calls, landline calls, and cheap calls. In the case of callign between two PhoneGnomes, you just dial the person's regular phone number, and the call is sent free over the Internet. This way it,s simple, and easy to use for the whole household (no special "bat phone" required and no new numbers to learn).
