Default VoipJet via IAX2 over dialup with Firefly

OK. So I'm killing time at an airport. Northwest Airlines doesn't provide free wifi in their lounge like Continental. Pity. So I'm sitting on a dialup connection an decided to try an experiment.

I setup my Firefly client to connect to my VoipJet account. This I normally use for making calls from my Asterisk server in my office. However, Firefly works just fine. I set it to use iLBC as the codec and start making test calls. It actually works surprisingly well. There is some latency, maybe 500-600 ms but its better than I would have expected.

Who knew?

Michael

Heh, Aswath and I were blogging about low-bandwidth codecs over dialup. I'm sure he'd be happy to hear that report that it worked.
