VOIPCHEAP do they check your IP address?
I have sent the above question to VoipCheap but have not received any answer. Does anyone know if the above provider ban IP address from certain country?
My account is in good standing and has lots of credit, I can use it perfectly good in Singapore, but when I take it to Vietnam it is not possible to make a PSTN outgoing calls (still has Euro7 credit)? why? Is it because VoipCheap don't allow that from Vietnam? If so they should say so somewhere on their website.
Does anyone know the real story?

Check your ISP if they BLOCKED VOIP 5060 port !
Not really, what happened was that I was able to use all other VoIP providers, Sipphone, FWD etc. even VoipCheap register OK and I can make a call to another VoipCheap account (as a hotline in the dialplan), but I can't dial out using 0065xxxxxxxx for example ! perplexing (it play a busy tone, as soon as ithe SPA is back in Singapore, it works again for dialling out)

try to set Defult Dial paln and Dial 65-xxx-xxx-xx it will work, If the number is not working then also get Fast Busy Dial tone
u may check with softphone if u can access a pc or laptop there.
If Dialler also not able to call any DESINATION then certainly the problem of ISP(Even Registering successfully)
If you can dial from voipchap dialer then the Dial plan issue !!(if u tried to changed anything)
unless otherwise u told that u will be able to use when u go back to Singapore!!

RE: Re: RE: Re: VOIPCHEAP do they check your IP address?
Yes that's 00+ctry cde+area cde+number so to dial a number in Singapore (regardless of where you are) you need to dial eg: 006596801382.
I am pretty sure that it's not a dialplan as it works perfectly in Singapore and I use the simplest of dialplan
(xx.<:@gw0>|<#,:>x.) essentially everything that is preceeded with # goes to the VoiP, otherwise PSTN, this dialplan is in use by my wife (which is to say it is foolproof, she just dial #00xxxxxxxxx if she wants to use VOIPCHEAP, all other way will go via PSTN, I don't limit dialling or anything fancy, self restraint is how we managed it.
I don't change anything between Singapore and Vietnam, simply plug it in to the Ethernet.
Yes I will check with laptop, but Skype on my laptop works like a dream. Again if I register the SPA with SIPPHONE it also worked, that is with the same dialplan. I am not sure how the ISP could play a part in here, they are much less sophisticated than elsewhere, and why just VoipCheap and not others?
As I said I am perplexed

I seem to have the same problem as well. I've credited my internetcalls account with 10 Euros before i was travelling to saudi arabia..And now i cant make calls to PSTN nos. It worked perfectly when i was in Singapore. I think it has todo something with the ISP

RE: Re: RE: Re: VOIPCHEAP do they check your IP address?
Not sure if ISP can block the dialling as this is done via port 5060, if they block this none of the SIP provider will work, indeed FWD specifically use 5060. They can block other RTP port but would that cause a busy tone ? And by the way I can get all other working, Skype, Sipphone, FWD and even the Starhub DVT adaptor worked over there, so I am really doubtful as to how the ISP can be so selective. The Middle East is different I believe they block all VoIP traffic, even Skype will not work over there.

The thing is i can use FWD to call my Linksys SPA back in India from Riyadh, so i dont really think they are blocking VOIP Traffic a such. Skype also works here..Its really strange

So we agree at least that VoIPCheap is quite specific about working, to me it smells smack on a ban by the company, for whatever reason, but for which they did not advertise

RE: Re: RE: Re: VOIPCHEAP do they check your IP address?
Sp we are after all nonethewiser as to whether VoipCheap blocked certain IP, a lot of speculative remarks but none affirmative, yet the phenomenon is there, I am a seasonned user of VoIP and I think I know the basic but yet can't explain why and no one replied from that company.
Here's another suspicion, when I purchased my credit I have to reveal where I come from, could it be that it is tied with that country's address range? That seems to tie up with Arun's observation too. One thing for sure is that they force you to buy via their reseller because after I paid my first credit with a credit card, for subsequent purchase I am not offered that option anymore, not even Paypal ! That could be reason why if you buy credit for an account based in Singapore you cannot take that account and use anywhere else!
What I will try is to register an account when I am in VN, and if I am able to use it in VN and yet upon returning to Singapore that it stopped working, well that's it !!! Proof that they check your IP
