| I'm trying to setup a couple of numbers with Vitelity and am using their CNAM service. When I call 1 Vitelity number from the other I get the City, State and 7 digit number. Ie: Washington, DC 202-552-1234 I've got the "Display Name" set on my SPA 2102 for both lines, and this is what I thought would show up on the caller ID screen. I'd like the person's name which the line belongs to, to be displayed. Their tech support guy says: "You are not setting your caller ID properly, which is why nothing displays. You can refer to your CDR's for this." I don't know what I've done wrong, if anything. Vitelity users, anybody get outbound caller ID working? |

| The name you enter at the sending side does not get transmitted to the receiving side. Only the number is sent. The name that the receiver sees is looked up by his own phone company through some sort of CNAM service. |

| Is the behavior you describe specific to just Vitelity, or any SIP provider in general? Are their better providers who will transmit the "Display Name" configured in the SPA, so that it appears on the Caller ID screen? |
| |||
| The name you set WILL appear on the other end if the call is a pure SIP To SIP call, that, either from subscriber to another, the moment the call goes out on the PSTN lines, this information is lost.
