| I have set up my SPA3000 with BV having used the Wizard, for which many thanks. Having a somewhat better understanding of this incredible box than I did when I ran the wizard, I would now like to try and change two of the settings the wizard advised to "leave this at the default value". These are the [Step 13] Dial Plan for PSTN to VoIP calls and the [Step 14] Dial Plan for VoIP to PSTN calls. I am having trouble dialing out to particular numbers using the dialing format I want on PSTN to VoIP, which I do not have dialing out directly from the VoIP LIne 1. I would like to try and add the string from the main Dial Plan to the Step 13 Dial Plan. Can you please tell me where to find the entry lines for those two Dial Plans :?: |

| Thanks PhoneBoy for the PSTN Line tab, Dial Plan info. I hope I am not breaching forum netiquette by raising something now I raised in an earlier post but which went without a reply from anyone. My Dial Plan for my VoIP Line 1 [using BV] is: (<0:011972>[23489]xxxxxxxS0|<0:011972>[5]xxxxxxxxS0|*xx|#xx|[2-9]xxxxxx|1xxx[2-9]xxxxxxS0|011[2-9]xxxxx.) I am based in Israel and the first two entries of the string are designed to let me dial numbers here as local numbers, i.e. area code and number without the International prefixes. However that Dial Plan does not work to allow me to dial an Israeli number [just area code and number such as 02-651xxxx] having dialed in from a PSTN number in my PSTN Caller ID Pattern list, bridging to the Line 1 VoIP gateway and getting a dial tone. I want to be able do this to dial in from a cell phone using inclusive land line minutes and then dial on to a different cell company, 50% cheaper even paying Broadvoice!) I can dial the USA through that gateway without any problems using either the full dialing pattern 1-xxx-xxx-xxxx or just xxx-xxxx. Dialling through the PSTN-VoIP gateway works for any non-US destination (including Israel) by dialling the full US international code 011 followed by the country code, but those are a lot of numbers to use regularly and I would like to avoid it. Hoping it would solve the problem, I put the following string in the PSTN Line tab Dial Plan 7: (<0:011972>[23489]xxxxxxxS0|<0:011972>[5]xxxxxxxxS0|xx.|*xx) but it made no difference. Just in case I have misunderstood which Dial Plan to use, I also afterwards added the same string to Dial Plan 8, but still no difference. I feel sure there must be some way of doing what I want to do. Can you help :roll: :?: |

| On the PSTN Line page, have a look at where you have defined your PSTN Pins. Next to each PSTN Caller X PIN: is an entry called PSTN Caller X DP:. That is where you choose which Dial Plan that caller is assigned to use. So, if you have assigned your own PIN as Caller 1, then just set PSTN Caller 1 DP to 7. Forgive me if you have already done that, but it is not working. By the way, is there some reason you didn't include 6 in mobile calling? Without the 6 you will be unable to call some Cellcom (064 and 065), Partner (066 and 067) and Pelephone (068) subscribers. |

| Thanks for your help, we are getting there! I have not defined any PINs. As PhoneBoy told me earlier in this thread that on the PSTN Line tab, Dial Plan 8 is used as PSTN to VoIP, I changed the PSTN Caller Default DP to 8. Voila, I can now call out as I want. However being able to dial easily and test the system myself has shown up a different problem. I called from my non ADSL telephone to my PSTN line and was bridged through to the VoIP line where I got a dial tone and dialled my second non ADSL line, which rang immediately. I then replaced the receiver on the non ADSL phone but the second non ADSL line kept ringing for some time. It seems that it takes a very long time for the disconnection message to get from POTS1 - PSTN - VoIP - POTS2. Where do I go to shorten that time delay? Is it one or more of the options in PSTN Disconnect Detection :?: All Israel Mobile dial codes changed on April 1, 2004, with dual use of the old and new codes being allowed until November 1, 2004. There is no longer any code beginning with '6'. The 'area' code for Cellcom is now 052; Orange/Partner is 054 and Pelephone is 050. There is an additional code for the Mirs network of 057. That last one I only just remembered when I checked my code change card, so I will now add a '7' into my DP strings. If you, or anyone else wants the full Israel Mobile phone code changes, ask and I will post them all. 8) |

| It is a common complaint amongst VoIP users that call control packets take an appreciable amount of time to travel from your client across the internet, percolate through your provider's SIP switch and be handed off to the termination provider, who then sends an SS7 control packet to actually tear down the call in progress. That's a lot of work and takes a long time to travel end-to-end with so many parties having to play nicely together. About the Israeli national numbering plan, you have once again shown me that I need to subscribe to a more current reference service. Thank you for the update.

| I hear. My PSTN Disconnect Detection screen looks like this: PSTN Disconnect Detection Detect CPC: yes Detect Polarity Reversal: no Detect PSTN Long Silence: no Detect VoIP Long Silence: no PSTN Long Silence Duration: 30 VoIP Long Silence Duration: 30 PSTN Silence Threshold: medium Min CPC Duration: 0.2 Detect Disconnect Tone: yes Disconnect Tone: 480@-30,620@-30;4(.25/.25/1+2) Is there any tweaking that can be done here? |
| |||
| Your Disconnect tone doesn't seem right for Israel. According to the ITU doc published here a while ago, the following are the tones used in Israel: ISRAEL DIAL TONE 400//425//440 CONTINUOUS SECOND DIAL TONE 400//440 3 |

| Thanks, saisho for the info. This is a posting from a very non techie! I do not see a 'Disconnect Tone' in the list you refer to. I am too much of a novice to know from the strings you quote how to change the Disconnect string in my Dial Plan. What should "Disconnect Tone: 480@-30,620@-30;4(.25/.25/1+2)" be? Is it just the 480 that needs changing to 400/425/440? My exchange in Jerusalem is 02. Where can I find out which of the three cycles you give is correct for that exchange? I have tried the ITU and Bezeq sites. |
| |||
| Did you use Phone Boy's localization wizard? That will set the correct regional settings (including dial tone, ring etc so it will sound like a Bezeq line). See <http://voxilla.com/spalocal.php> According to the wizard the disconnect tone should be: 400@-12;10(.5/.5/1). You should try that first and if this doesn't help try 440 and 425 (just replace 400 with 440 or 425). HTH. |
