The problem is that the call quality sucks. Anyone else checked them out. First off, the testyourvoip.com echo phone numbers are run by broadvoice so i'm not sure how accurate a test they are. But calling anyone reveals a significant latency on the call with a lot of drops and poor sound volume. I am using a sipura 2000 for this and broadvoice, in comparison, sounds awesome.
Anyone else have positive or negative experiences with inphonex to share? |
According to InPhonex web site they use G729 compressed codec. Check out
http://www.TelIAX.com They use G711u/a uncompressed codecs as well as other compressed ones and you might get somewhat better quality with G711 if you have the bandwidth (>85kbps in each direction). I use their Pay-as-you go for International calls.
The only other low cost leader I've found is
http://www.mutualphone but they look a lot less professional than telIax (PayPal only payment, some surcharge for PayPal processing) and they too use compressed codecs only.
Both of them allow your own ATA and pay as you go. TelIAX has a 2c connect charge for PAYG plans however but they charge on 6/6 basis so 2c connect charge does not bother me at all (especially for International calls)
