RE: looking for Philippine VOIP Virtual Number
I'm also looking for unlimited call service to the Philippines, or who offers the lowest rates for long distance calls to the Philippines?

You can try SKY INTERNET VOIP. Have a relative or even a friend sign-up in the Philippines and have him/her send you the Router (with phone jack) to your address abroad. It does not matter where you are, as long as you have broadband internet (recommended at least 256 Kbps). When you receive the router, all you need to do is install the software cd that comes with it and connect your router to the modem and a regular phone to the router's phone jack. You don't even need to turn on the pc to make calls, just plug in your modem, router and phone and your good to go. You will be given an ACTUAL PHILIPPINE NUMBER, meaning you can call anyone in the philippines with the same area code for free, and they can call you as well. MANILA AND OTHER PROVINCIAL NUMBERS ARE AVAILABLE. Only P499.00 for the basic package. For more information, visit this link: http://www.skyinternetvoip.com.ph/

Hi,
I was looking into Philippines for a friend of mine tonight and also stumbled accross that offer. This seems very appealing.
Anyone know of another provider that has cheap calls to Philipines?
I find it interesting that Verizon offers calls for $0.16 per minute with their POTS when you pay $4 per month for their international service. I was not able to find a VoIP provider that offers calls to Philippines for less than $0.16.
ciao,
Cybertoy

I've also searched for a VOIP provider that charges less than 10 cents per minute, but I was unable to find one. You might want to try using prepaid phone cards instead. Depending on your location, some of them charges as low as 5 cents per minute.

Have you tried skyinternet in your country by yourself? Where are you staying now?
I have read this before in pinoydsl.net and I sent an e-mail to Bayantel but they said it will not work in abroad.
I will wait for your response.

I'm in Arizona. I Already have a service with Vonage at the moment so I have not yet tried it myself but I'm sure it will work. I sent a Vonage phone adapter to my fiancee, so she has a local US number right now and can call any phone in the US for free as if she was here. The same thing will work for the Sky VOIP. I'm actually planning to get a Sky VOIP adapter when I go back to the Philippines next year. If you will read through their FAQ section, you will find that they say that their service WILL WORK WITH ANY BROADBAND SERVICE PROVIDER. Here's the link of the FAQ: http://www.skyinternetvoip.com.ph/faq.html

Bayantel may truly restrict registrations to IP addresses physically in the Philippines. It is equally likely that this is not a technological constraint, but is posturing to avoid incurring the wrath of NTC (and their PLDT brethren).

So you're saying that Bayantel will require their customers to have static IPs? I think they can do that to their Bayantel DSL subscribers but what about other ISP subscribers? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think most ISPs designate dynamic IPs to their subscribers and a static IP usually means you have to pay extra for it.
