Default Cheap French Virtual Phone Numbers?

Are there French virtual phone numbers available similar to those offered by IPKall, StanAPhone, SipPhone?

Best I've seen is Lingo and Kall8 at around $25/mo.

I don't know 'any' VoIP providers in France!

French phone numbers from Lingo costs $10/mo. not 25!! (18 including the cost of a basic line)

I've also been trying to locate a French provider for DID's but with no luck. Not even a simple VoIP provider for that matter... No VoIP in France?

LibreTel doesn't have French numbers but I'm sure they will provde them soon.

ICH has french numbers both in Paris (1) and in the South (4) for $8! with $23 you get Fench number & 1250 minutes.

French numbering plan doesn't allow many numbers so I think it's difficult to get cheap French numbers

The only VoIP provider in France is Free, which uses its own non-geographic number range. +33 870. you can't subscribe outside France, and you need to have Free's ADSL service too.

Well, landlines no. have a standard lenght of 10 digits but the first one is 0 and the second can only be 1 to 5.

that makes 500 million numbers: the first no. after the area code cannot be 0 or 1 so it's 400 million numbers (excluding other unavailable ranges).

Eight years ago they only had an availability of 80 million numbers... they had to change the numbering plan or else they were going to run out of #s!

Anyway thanks for the link. I wonder however what's the point of free.fr's VoIP: they already offer a voice line+15Mb/s DSL+unmetered calls for around 30Euro a month already....

Not bad, but there should be more info on SIP devices (if they're using SIP, that is) rather than just their Wenbox and USB-based equipment.

they send you the wenbox for free thats why but still i understand your concerns: i mean what if you already have a ATA anyway? or a VoIP phone... and so on...

anyway, i managed to get the SIP info for all of you to use!

proxies:
proxy1.host.wengo.fr

domain/realm:
len1.host.wengo.fr

username and password are the same you need to put on their sw/hw phones

i dunno which ports to use but i guess installing the softphone and running netstat will help find out.

PS: when you sign up, you will be given a geo number only if they cover your area of residence, so make sure you say one they cover!! abroad, it wont work (ART. like German regulator, prohibits numbers to be assigned to foreigners)

if you dont mind where you get a number from, say Versailles (and you'll get a 01-72 number... like Paris)

hi, one question about the www.free.fr website to those who've already signed up.

For what I understand they want an ID card AND a phone bill from France Telecom in order to register. And, as much as I would love to say that I live in Versailles, I can't provide that phone bill...

Moving on to wengo, from their website I gather it's a pre-paid voip service. I don't read anything about getting a DID number, but I'm sure you guys undertsand more french than me!

Could someone please tell me then, how long is the number they give you valid for, in case you don't recharge (that is, only buy the first recharge, to signup....).

Thanks,
manny
