Smile Wifi Sip PDA Pocket PC

I am new to all this so would appreciate your expert advice and recommendations

which mobile WiFi pocket pc/pda phone is best for voip use

I would prefer something that is more pda than phone with fast processor, media player, softphone capable, windows mobile, sturdy, keyboard,

I have come across some HTC pda phones like Tytn and Universal and wondering if they might be better than something like a Dell Axim?

the most important factor is that it has an excellent wifi connection for online browsing/email and voip connection

there are so many Wifi phones and WiFi Sip Phones out there but is there a WiFi Sip PDA?

many thanks in advance

You can put a SIP Softphone client on "most" PDAs that have WiFi but there are two things to consider depending on how you want to use them:

The WiFi side of most PDAs was set up for things like checking e-mail. In that mode, the device connects to WiFi, gets what it need, sends what it needs, and turns off. This could work for an outbound VoIP call. On the other hand - to get an inbound VoIP call (unless you made a specific appointment with the caller), the phone needs to stay connected all the time. With most PDAs, this will drain the battery in just a few hours.

The second thing to check is where the sound comes out. The PPC device sold through Verizon has the sound from "any" PC application coming out the speaker in the back of the unit - not from the speaker where you would expect phone sounds to come out. That speaker is reserved for CDMA calls - most probably because Verizon is no so interested in having CDMA minutes - and money - move to WiFi VoIP.
