| | Questions about Chat-Cord Questions about Chat-Cord:
1. As metioned in the Chat-Cord FAQ, what is the function of the "switch for PSTN"? Is it smart or passive. Does the Chat-cord package include the switch for PSTN?
2. With the switch for PSTN, what happens with an incoming call when the other line is in use?
3. Is the software that enables dialing from the POTS port available? The FAQ talks about a download but I can't find it on the Chat-Cord site?

| | I've received the following reply from info@chat-cord.com:
Our website is being restructured and will include details about the "switch for PSTN". It is mechanical, enabling you to switch PSTN and VoIP on the same phone. On an incoming call when the phone is used for the other line you can change the switch position and then decide what to do.
The software is available for skype and Xten It takes some time for setting the download area but we expect it to be running till 10/10/04 and we'll announce it in our website.

| | I have tested the software that lets you "dial" PSTN numbers via Skype, and it's pretty cool once you get it tuned to your phone. You can push a key sequence to get dialtone, dial normally, hang up, answer calls, or reject calls. Pretty slick. I'm looking forward to looking at the Xten version of the software.

| | I've placed an order for the Chat-Cord, with voxilla of course. With all it can do right now, it looks like a winner product.
The icing on the cake would be if there was a mechanism to allow EITHER incoming PSTN or VOIP (Skype) to ring the phone. On outbound, it would be great to default to PSTN call unless a special code was entered, then it would call over VOIP. Anyway to do this other than going with a Sipura 3000 or Call-in-One?
With all the travel I do, I really like the Chat-Cord size and functionality. Its tiny and doesn't need a YAB (Yet Another power Brick).

| | Warning: I've recieved chat-cord but it didn't include any software. I've been writing tech support every other day asking for the software. They have not responded at all except to say it was available for Skype and XTEN and that they were redesigning their website. So far this product is useless. Do not buy it until the software is posted on their website. I see they have been redoing their website. They now have a download section but it redirects to the main page. Can someone email me the software so I can use the product?
I'm sure this is a case of startup-itis. They jumped the gun on selling the product. Hopefully they will correct the gaff soon. |

| | Since you bought the Chat Cord from us, send an email into support@voxilla.com with your order details and we can give you the software.
We are in the process now of generating an email to send to all Chat Cord purchasers so they can also obtain this software.

| | I got the software from voxilla support. However when I try to run it got error "Chat-Cord@DialerSK. please check your Chat-Cord connections to the computer. Phone should be hung up".
Has anybody faced same problem? -- So far the device works fine, but cannot run the dialer software. OS is XP Pro SP2. |

| | jbsebl,
I get the same message. The fix is to start Skype before chat-cord.
I'm using XP2.
chat-cord is still failing to deliver on its specs. I can't recommend it until they deliver on their claims, update their software and website. They clearly have a lack of professionalism. It does have potential though.

| | I found it worked a lot better once I plugged in the USB cable. That seems to help audio quality problems quite a bit for me.
