Default QoS Support in XP Internet Connection Sharing

Hi,

Not sure if this is the right forum, but...

On a branch network, ISDN (128kBits) is the internet connection. There is a Windows XP Pro PC that has the USB connection to the ISDN modem. This PC has XP's internal "Internet Connection Sharing" enabled.

There are a couple of other notebook PC's on the local LAN side that are networked to the XP using 802.11g. The main XP box also has a DLink wireless card, and they are all using ad-hoc wireless - ie there is no intermediate wireless router.

I have been playing with X-Lite softphone, which supports QoS setting. Clearly I have problems as soon as any type of other traffic is being carried to/from the Internet. i.e. Web surfing, email etc.

Q1: Does XP support QoS queueing in its ICS routing function, i.e. passing from the faster interface to the slower interface? My sense is that is does not, and that maybe this type of functionality is only found in Windows Server products.

Q2: Am I going to need any type of QoS across the wireless link? (The bandwidth of this is many times that of the ISDN connection so I did not think so)

Q3: What would be the recommended QoS settings to use in X-Lite assuming this all actually worked...which I'm doubtful of!

Thanks.
