problems with dock-n-talk <-> ata186 <-> asteris

Hi people,

I have been looking over the net but can't find anyone who has connected a ata186 with a dock-n-talk. I am using asterisk as well.

asterisk <-> ata186 <-> dock-n-talk <-> t68i

When I connect the dock-n-talk to the ata186 and try to dial out asterisk tells me the extension is busy. I have a t68i connected to the dock-n-talk.

If i connect a normal phone to the dock-n-talk i get a dialtone and the light is green.

Is there any special config for the ata186? I have upgraded the ata186 to SIP 3.2. the ata186 is registered in asterisk.

Any ideas?

Your problem is that you are trying to connect two FXS devices to each other, which cannot work. An FXS device is one that behaves like the phone company, supplying Dial Tone for outgoing calls and Ring Signal for incoming calls. An FXO device is one that behaves like a telephone set, listening for Dial Tone and responding to Ring Signal.

You need to connect your FXS Dock-N-Talk with an FXO device, like a Sipura SPA-3000 or a SIPCPE FX-200.
