I have a Cisco ATA-186 and tried to configure it with either FWD or Sipgate without success. The configuration I had worked for months before and also works with some of my friends. The router I am using is D-Link DSL-G604T. I have NOT forwarded any of the ports on the router but - again - this solution has worked for me in the past. More importantly, I have no problems configuring SPA-2000 and X-Light and both work with FWD and Sipgate without forwarding any ports on the router. The best would be if I know how to translate the settings from SPA-2000 or X-Light to ATA-186. I can translate most settings but I suspect that the issue is with either or both NATTIMER and CONNECTMODE parameters. I tried looking at the ATA-186 manual but I am confused about the entire bit-environment. I mostly understand specific instructions for individual bits but I am confused about the final result/sytax (i.e. 0x0......) and do not know how to read it. Here are the settings I have tried: GKORPROXY: fwd.pulver.com also sipgate.de OUTBOUND PROXY: fwdnat.pulver.com:5082 also sipgate.de NATTIMER: 0x00000000 also 0x0000003c also 0x0006001e CONNECTMODE: 0x00460400 also 0x00060400 also 0x019804c5 For Sipgate, I also tried removing OUTBOUND PROXY and setting NATSERVER to stun.sipgate.net:10000 I believe I tried all of the above combinations without success (again - the strange thing is that one of these combinations worked before for months). If anybody has suggestions how to solve this or can help me understanding the NATTIMER and CONNECTMODE parameters, I will appreciate the help. BTW: is the NATTIMER setting only relevant if I set STUN/NATTIMER instead of OUTBOUND PROXY? Finally, I am attaching the working configuration on my SPA-2000 as well as the NON-working one on ATA-186 - see attachments below or alternatively, here are the links: http://www.geocities.com/starekj/Sip...figuration.htm (please scroll down to the very bottom of the webpage) http://www.geocities.com/starekj/ATA...figuration.htm Thank you.

I notice on your ATA cfg that you aren't running DHCP, but you have hardcoded private IP's into the static IP fields. This is fine, but I would think since you are using: 'sipgate.de' as your proxy address you should probably enter in a couple of DNS addresses to do the DNS lookup for your proxy.

That was it! I populated the DNS1IP and DNS2IP fields with the DNS IP addresses of my internet provider and it all works like a breeze. I guess the advantage of this entire issue is that I figured out the binary/hexadecimal formatting of ATA-186. The Hex to and from Binary format conversion can be found using a search engine. Here is one of the links with the conversion: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binary_numeral_system Three key things to remember are: 1. Binary format starts from the right toward the left. 2. Binary format starts with bit no. 0 NOT 1. So the fourth bit (again, counting from the right) is bit no. 3 NOT 4. 3. Once you translate a binary into hex, append 0x at the beginning of the hex number. Also, MS Excel has some translation functions (e.g. if you need to translate a decimal number) such as DEC2BIN but they have a limitation of max. 10 fields. Apologies for those to whom this is obvious and most importantly thank you again Bigt69 for your help.
