Default multiple providers on 1 Line phone - solution

Hi,

I know this might sound like an advert, but I found the information difficult to come by, so I will share my findings with you all..

Basically I was looking for a way of getting multiple lines in (and out) on my 1 Line phone.

Eventually I found a device called 'Combine-a-line' that did the job, and it is perfect for my use. I have a PAP2 and are now able to receive phone calls aswell as calling out on both lines (providers) from my 1 line phone. This would work on any adapter, not just the PAP2.

I am in no way connected to the company producing these, but I bought 2 switches myself, and are very happy with them.

Im not sure if I am allowed to post links, so message me if you are unable to find the information needed to buy it, and I will try to help.

Cheers,
Scope

Hello, Scope. Thanks for the tip. I am moving this thread to "Other Hardware", since it applies equally to all ATAs and native telephone lines, not just Linksys ones.

There used to be (in the 1980s) many such devices produced in the US, but for whatever reason they are very scarce nowadays.

The reason that many of those became more scarce was caller ID. Most of the older units would not pass the caller ID, including the popular units from Radio Shack.

I have seen some of these on the market again, and they have interested me very much, please let us know which ones of these pass caller ID.

The unit I bought did pass Caller ID for my VoIP line, have not tried it on a landline, but I have heard people having problems with BT Caller ID atleast.. But not sure if this is true.
