Hey folks,

This should hopefully be a simple question, and I'm thinking that I may already know the answer. I'm using this phone:

What I'd like to do is just use it as a standard USB phone with X-Lite, to dial and receive calls through as you normally would. The issue I'm having is that is seems to *require* Skype to be installed and running for anything to work on it. Otherwise it functions merely as a glorified microphone/headset (ie everything must be dialed and done directly through the client rather than from the phone). It won't even initially display anything unless the SkyU2M driver is running, and even when that's running but Skype is not, the LCD displays text but none of the buttons are usable.

Is this phone not able to be used with anything other than Skype or the bundled service providers listed for it? (VoIPBuster, VoipStunt, VoipCheap, SparVoIP, etc)
