Is this cool or what...tehe!! KSUless P2P VoIP phone system. This is pretty much exactly what I have been looking for. I was seriously looking at Asterisk but this solution looks sooooooo much better for small to medium businesses that only need a KSU type of system. www.aastra.com/enterpriseip/pro_228.asp The thing that really sits well with me and just makes sense is the fact it is truly a P2P VoIP system. All the traditional KSU/PBX features such as voicemail, autoattendant, call transfer etc. are decentralized among all the VoIP phones in the system. Not sure how it works but Nimcat Networks has several patents on it. This sounds like a winner to me upon first glance. www.nimcatnetworks.com

Apples and oranges anyways! Your comparing a cheap phone with an expensive one and you get what you pay for. Yes, in this case you are forced to use the 480i. Once cheaper phones become available with the nimcat software then....well it's a no brainer. No goofing around with linux, hard drives, fans and all that other scary stuff and theoretically cheaper once there are cheaper phone options. |

I've been very curious about this system. I seems like a strong alternative to Asterisk for someone who doesn't care to learn * administration. Perhaps it's not as flexible, but it might be very good for small businesses. Michael

What I'd really like to know is if this system will deal with ITSPs and an Asterisk server. It looks like a great zero maintainance phone system but I'd be concerned about is adaptability to specific applications. Michael

It is mean't as a KSUless KSU so it has connectivity limitations just like a KSU. If you want connectivity with 3rd party hardware/software then this is probably not your solution. I read one review that said the gateway to PSTN sound quality was not great. I guess they cheaped out a bit on that. Too bad.
