Hello, I have been trying to get my Nokia E65 set up on a VoIP service. I signed up with Voipgo as my provider and they gave me the following settings: SIP Settings Profile Name: Voipgo Service Service Profile: IETF Default Access Point: My WLAN Public user name: sip:xxxxxxxxxx@66.49.255.39 (xxx... is my 10 digit phone number) Use Compression: No Registration: Always On User Security: No Proxy Server Proxy server address: sip:66.49.255.39 Realm: 66.49.255.39 Username: xxxxxxxxxx [!at] 66.49.255.39 (replace the [!at] with a @) Password: (password they provided to me) Allow loose routing: Yes Transport type: Auto Port: 5060 Registrar server Registrar server address: sip:66.49.255.39 Realm: 66.49.255.39 Username: xxxxxxxxx [!at] 66.49.255.39 (replace the [!at] with a @) Password (password they provided to me) Transport type: Auto Port: 5060 Now, whenever I try to connect to my WLAN, it says "unable to connect to the network". Then when I go back into the SIP settings, it says "Registration failed." I am able to surf the web through my WLAN, so there is no problem with that. Could it be my router? I have a D-link DI-524. Please, any help would be greatly appreciated! Customer service had me go through and remove the "sip"'s from the addresses and change transport type to UDP, but that didn't seem to help. Could it be my phone? Thanks in advance!

| I was able to get the softphone on my laptop to work with this VSP, so the service is fine, its just not working on this device I guess. On the E65 I have Voxalot and it registered, but they aren't a service provider. Obviously I haven't been able to do anything with voxalot even though it registered because my VSP isn't registering hehe. I hope its nothing wrong with the device... | Hello, Thanks, I was actually trying to do that as my alternative, and was awaiting registration through voxalot until now. For some reason, voxalot couldn't register Voipgo either, but it is on their Global Provider List. I think I may have the host wrong, but I'm pretty sure its right, its the proxy right? For voipgo it is 66.49.255.39. |

I don't have Nokia E-65. But, I was able to get the Nokia E61 working with Asterisk IP-PBX. These are the detailed steps. Hope this helps. By the way, it is important that you ask your VSP if they can enable TLS for signaling and SRTP for media encryption. If not, I would personally not comfortable using that service since it is vulnerable to eavesdropping. This procedure was tested with AsteriskNOW IP-PBX, Linksys WRT54G wireless broadband router, and Nokia E61 phone using UDP transport. Step 1- Connect to Wireless Access Point ---------------------------------------- Goto Menu->Tools->Settings->Connection->Access Points Connection Name: TestConnection ''(or any other name you want)'' Data bearer: Wireless LAN WLAN netw. name: ''(SSID of your Wireless Router)'' Network Status: Public WLAN netw. mode: Infrastructure WLAN Security Mode: WEP WLAN Security Sett. WEP key in use: #1 ''(or whatever key index you are using)'' WEP key settings WEP encryption: 64 bits WEP key format: HEX WEP key: ''<WEP key goes here>'' Homepage: None Step 2- Set default call type ----------------------------- Goto Menu->Tools->Settings->Call Default call type: internet Step 3- Create SIP profile -------------------------- Goto Menu->Tools->Settings->Connection->SIP Settings Select Options->Add New Profile Name: TestSIPProfile ''(or anything you want)'' Service Profile: IETF Default Access Point: TestConnection ''(or whatever you used in Step 1)'' Public User Name: ''<user>@<host> (e.g., 6001@10.0.250.101)'' Use Compression: No Registration: Always ON Use Security: No Proxy Server Proxy server address: <IP address of Asterisk> (e.g. 10.0.250.101) Realm: asterisk ''(Asterisk uses this realm to challenge)'' User Name: ''<Username> (e.g. 6001)'' Password: ''<User password configured on Asterisk>'' Allow loose routing: yes Transport type: UDP Port: 5060 Registrar Proxy server address: <IP address of Asterisk> (e.g. 10.0.250.101) Realm: asterisk ''(Asterisk uses this realm to challenge)'' User Name: ''<Username> (e.g. 6001)'' Password: ''<User password configured on Asterisk>'' Allow loose routing: yes Transcript type: UDP Port: 5060 Step 4- Configure internet telephony settings --------------------------------------------- Goto Menu->Tools->Settings->Connection->Internet tel. settings Select Options->New Profile Name: ''<any profile name you want>'' SIP Profiles: TestSIPProfile ''(or whatever you used in Step 3)'' Step 5- Activate Internet Telephony (SIP Registration) ------------------------------------------------------ Menu->Connect->Internet tel. ''<it will say-- Discovering services >'' Select TestConnection ''(or whatever you used in Step 1)'' Select Options->Connect to serv. Select OK for "Create WLAN in offline mode?" This step will make the phone register with Registrar. At this point you should be able to make and receive calls from the phone.

You got Nokia E61 working with Asterisk IP-PBX. I am in Mexico and cell service is really expensive. I am really new to Asterisk (<30 days). I am looking for someway that I can use a SIP account for CLEAR calls. Is this phone configuration something that would allow me to make and receive calls from my SIP extension over the internet? I have GSM I think down here. Basically my cingular blackberry 8800 works great with internet here. Any pointers or help would be appreciated. Thanks, James

If you want to make and receive calls over the internet from your SIP extension to any other phone in the world, you will need a VoIP service account from a VoIP service provider in your area. Your provider will route calls from your SIP extension. Your provider will generally give you an adapter. You can connect the Asterisk to the adapter and use E61 with the Asterisk to route calls. If your Internet connection and your provider guarantees some minimum QoS, you should definitely get better quality over a weaker cellular signal. Hope this helps.
