Default VoIP enabled cellular telephones - other than Nokia

Folks:
Are there any cellular telephones, other than the Nokia listed in Voxilla Store, that are VoIP enabled?

In generic terms, what would I look for when reading the specifications of a cellular telephone to know if it is VoIP enabled or not?

Is there a recommended site to read about VoIP enabled celluar telephones?

Regards

It looks no one is willing to reply to my posting. Let me rephrase it. Does I-mate JASJAm http://www.imate.com/t-DETAILS_JASJAM.aspx has a SIP software? If not can I install a softphone on it? If so, which softphone is recommended?

There are softphones for windows mobile. The trouble is that they are not so well integrated with the phone as Nokia is. I.e. you might have trouble using your regular phone directory etc. Since I don't have a firsthand experience it's hard for me to say more. There must be people out there who knows more....

Thank you md_27514, it is good to know the integration issue. So I have to stick to one of the Nokias.

I know someone who always use his XDA (not sure what XDA tho) for making VoIP calls. So I guess the I-mate is capable too.

T-Mobile USA just announced Research In Motion's Blackberry Curve phone to work on it's "Hotspot at Home" service where the phone will work on WiFi and gsm cellular and do a handoff between the two technologies. Interesting thread on dslreports forum about it. At this point you are probably locked into using it only under a T-Mobile monthly plan, though.

I heard about T-Mobile GSM/VoIP service. It is great. It is a dual service. When you are WiFi connected you make and receive calls through your VoIP account. I guess you will have the same number given to you for your GSM. Otherwise, you use your regular GSM package on the GSM network. This is the way I understood their program.

About any windows mobile phone can be used for VoIP, the issue becomes one of how fast of a CPU it has so that you can get good quality sound out of it. That is one reason why the NOkia's fare so well. Also something to consider is the codec that you plan to use and the data you will use for them. Like are you going to use your mobile's 3G or are you using WIFI. All of these factors come into play.

Cheers,
Krzy

I just saw this pop up - probably because it was bumped with a reply. I have the Utstarcom GF210 WiFi/SIP phone. I have also tried the Pirelli DP-L10 (got it as a TCOM TC300 when DT dumped them and loaded new FW). The GF210 does better at finding networks.

Any WM device "should" be able to handle VoIP, particularly g.711 since it does not put too much load on the processor. The channelge with any of these devices is that they are not particularly designed for VoIP and have a short battery life if you want them to stand by waiting for an incoming call. The "basic" GSM/WiFi phones are still better at this point (also cheaper).
