Default SPA3102 - problems configuring PSTN to VOIP feature

Hi,

I have a SPA3102 and an Xlink. I have my cell phone Bluetooth paired to the Xlink, and then I have the Xlink plugged into the PSTN line of the SPA3102. I also have the SPA3102 configured so that if I plug a phone into the FXS port, it works fine with my VoIP service.

I have been trying to setup the feature where I can call from another phone to the cell phone via the Xlink, which is connected to the PSTN port, then have the SPA3102 bridge the call to my VoIP service, so that I would then get a dialtone and I can dial outbound calls.

I have followed to the below instructions to each specific detail. Under the PSTN tab of the SPA3102 in the configuration menu, I have also entered my VoIP service Proxy, username and password information. When I call into the cell phone, I hear a dialtone for about five seconds then it goes away.

I have tried many times and nothing changes. Could someone please provide some assistance as to how I can correct whatever the problem may be, so that I can get the PSTN-VoIP bridge feature to work correctly.

Thank you for your help

It sounds like you are getting some signal from the Xlink that makes the SPA3102 think there was a disconnect. Your 3102 Info tab will show the reason for the last pstn disconnect which may provide guidance on how to fix the problem.

The forum instructions look OK. They make an assumption about the line 1 dial plan that could lead to trouble. If the VoIP account is the same account as you have on line 1 and you set both tabs to register it could cause problems with incoming calls. If you don't have incoming calls on the pstn tab a better approach is to set it not to register but to make calls without reg. This is assuming your service provider will allow you to make calls without registration.

The Ring Thru Line 1 is if you want the phone attached to the SPA to ring on an incoming call from the XLink. Usually with this feature you delay the auto answer by the pstn-to-VoIP gateway by an appropriate delay period in PSTN Answer Delay. The default is 16 seconds. If you don't want the phone attached to the SPA to ring you set the Ring Thru to NO and drop the PSTN Answer Delay to 1 seconds or so just long enough to get a passed caller ID (if you care about that).
