| Hi Guys, Having been down the sipura3000 / pap2 route a while back and failing miserably I was tempted to give the 9k/400 route a go. I want to use 8 linksys ip phones via 9k to access my BT pstn line via the 400. That is no VOIP at mo. Is there any change this might actually work (I am in London UK). It seems the same issues that plagued me (not hangin up) are still evident. Has anything actually moved on. I am also rather keen to get this set up in a night rather than waste weeks like I did last time. Failing that are there any other options I might explore ? Ta Chris |

| I'm not in the UK but to the best of my knowledge, caller ID recognition is still limited to the US format. I guess the alternatives would be Asterisk or SipX (since you don't need SIP lines, SipX might be the preferable solution if you get a PSTN gateway that can be managed by SipX - and automatic management of the Linksys phones is also forthcoming). There are some things you can do in terms of disconnect tone detection, but if memory serves me correctly, if you have a Featureline, you're in for a rough ride. |

| If you are not using VoIP yet and looking at appliance solutions, you might want to consider Talkswitch.

| Eric - I thought I should get back to you and say I followed your advice. I am now the happy owner of a UK version talkswitch 284. It is installed (took 5mins) and working well. Have hit a slight snag however - the UK site suggests the talkswitch works with linksys 941/942 phones so I bought a couple when I ordered the switch - seems like the software disagrees though and has no support. Am waiting for an answer from talkswitch about who is right - maybe a costly error TalkSwitch Phone Systems For Small and Multi-Location Businesses has the details Thanks again for the pointer. Having just seen the talkswitch forum I will ask this question there too. Chris Last edited by phcjpp : July 9th, 2007 at 01:55 PM. |
