Specify the SPA400 FXO ports to be used for outgoing calls
Our set up SPA9000, SPA400, SPA942s (with current firmware)
We would like to be able to specify which of the four PSTN lines connected to our SPA400 is used when dialing out. Up until know we had come to the conclusion it was not possible, until a note in the latest firmware suggested it may now be possible?
The latest firmware for the SPA 400 advises:
(Release Notes for SPA400 Firmware Version
1.1.2.2)
"You can use the SPA9000 call routing rule to specify the SPA400 FXO ports to be
used for outgoing calls, based on the dialed digits."
Currently on the SPA9000, we have voip on Line 1 and Line 3 and our SPA400 configured to Line 2 of the SPA9000.
Our Call Routing Rule is (<:L1>9xx.|<:L2>8xx.|<:L3>7xx.) and on the line tabs we have the following in each of the dial plan boxes
Line one dial plan (<9:>xx.)
Line two dial plan (<8:>xx.)
Line three dial plan (<7:>xx.)
This works very well and depending on the leading digit, the appropriate voip line or the SPA400 PSTN is selected.
We have always wanted a way of determining which of the PSTN lines connected to our SPA400 is used to dial out. If have understood the release notes correctly, it seems as if we can now achieve this?
The is a note in the release notes regarding specifying a hunt group, e.g. (<:L2{1,2}>8xx) but we were hoping to be able to determine a specific PSTN line depending upon digits dialed.
Can anyone advise if they have managed to get this to work? We have experimented but to be honest have a fairly limited knowledge of dial plan etc.
Obviously wrongly (as it did not work), we tried to change our call routing rule to (<:L1>9xx.|<:L2{1}>8xx.|<:L2{2}>5xx.|<:L3>7xx.) and the dial plans on the line tabs to
Line one dial plan (<9:>xx.)
Line two dial plan (<8:>xx.|<5:>xx.)
Line three dial plan (<7:>xx.)
Can anyone offer advice as to how to configure to achieve a working rule to achieve this? I am not sure whether I should be looking at the phone dial plan instead of the call routing rule and line tab dial plan?
Any help would be appreciated.
Many thanks
Simon

Re: Specify the SPA400 FXO ports to be used for outgoing calls
If you asked me to define a routing plan and individual line dial plans, I woud have done exactly the same as what you have defined.
I have only one PSTN line connected, so I can't check at the moment until I can plug it into one of the other ports to see if it fails.

Re: Specify the SPA400 FXO ports to be used for outgoing calls
I have just tried this out with 2 PSTN lines attached to my SPA400 and it works as defined. To force port 2 to place the call I have defined the entry in the SIP:PBX Parameters:Call Routing Rule to be (<:L2{ 2}>8xx.). My SPA400 is on Line 2 by the way. The Line 2:Dial plan is (<8:>xx.). If I prefix my dialed number with 8 then port 2 is the PSTN line used.

Re: Specify the SPA400 FXO ports to be used for outgoing calls
Hi Rosebank
Thanks for your help.
We were hoping to be able to choose (from more than one) which of the FXO ports were used on the SPA400, e.g. dial a leading 8 to choose SPA400 FXO port 1 or a leading 5 to choose SPA400 FXO port 2.
Like yours, we entered a rule in SIP:PBX Parameters:Call Routing Rule and then set up a dial plan for the SPA9000 line 2 as in our above post.
What we found was that dialing a leading 8 or 5 selected the SPA400 FXO port that was currently available rather than the defined FXO ports.
Does your setup work if you set a couple of FXO port choices for your SPA9000 line 2 which links to your SPA400?
E.g. (<:L2{1}>8xx.|<:L2{2}>5xx.) in the SIP:PBX Parameters:Call Routing Rule
and then (<8:>xx.|<5:>xx.) for the line 2 dial plan as we tried?
I hope to be able to experiment with my set up again in the next few days. It would be very interesting to know if you can successfully select from a choice of outgoing FXO ports for your SPA400 by dialing specific leading digits.
Thanks again, I really do appreciate any help on this.
Regards
Simon

Re: Specify the SPA400 FXO ports to be used for outgoing calls
Simon,
Line 2 Dial Plan is (<[78]:>xx.)
PBX Parameters Call Routing Rule is (<:L2{ 1}>7xx.|<:L2{ 2}>8xx.)
PBX Phone Parameters Phone Dial Plan is (7,xx.|8,<:9>xx.)
I have a BT Featureline on Port 2 of the SPA400 hence the insertion of the "9" at the beginning of the number. I am not sure if the "," is necessary as that is an artifact of trying to get a Grandstream GXP2000 working. For some reason it won't implement the <:9>. My other phones work OK, these include Linksys SPA941 and POTS on the FXS port.

Re: Specify the SPA400 FXO ports to be used for outgoing calls
You can find many threads with the answer to that one. I'd search for port identifier (iirc that's the name of the thingie that allows the SPA9k to know which port the call originated from).
