| Greetings, I have two questions, but first the background. Setup: At home, I have two analog phones connected to FXS1 and FXS2 of my SPA 9K. Both the phones have User ID (say 201 and 202) that allows them to call each other as internal extentions. Similarly, any incoming call on any of the ITSP accounts configured on the Line interfaces of the SPA can be routed to these user ids or to Auto Attendant. Once the incoming call is answered by the AA then the calling party can still dial an extention (either 201 or 202) to ring any of the phones placed in two different rooms. I also have my SPA 3000 registering to my SPA 9000. The Line 1 of the SPA 3K registers to SPA 9K as an extention with User ID 203 and the PSTN Line interface of the SPA 3K also registers to SPA 9K as an extention with User ID 204. This setup allows me to make outgoing PSTN calls from 201 and 202 (extentions at my SPA 9K) by dialing the extention number 204 (PSTN Line on SPA 3K) and using a specially crafted dial plan to get the PSTN dial tone to dial out. Similarly, any caller (for example myself while trying to make a VoIP call from office) from the PSTN can also call the regular PSTN number and then using the PSTN-to-VoIP Gateway feature of the SPA 3K (with PIN numbers and Caller Dial Plan) can also use any of the ITSP accounts configured as Gateway Accounts on Line 1 of the SPA 3K. All in all the setup allows me to make outgoing VoIP international and PSTN local calls from home while being in different rooms and at the same time receive incoming VoIP international calls along with internal calls from other extentions. While being in office it also allows me to call my home PSTN number and then using the PIN number being able to make a VoIP international call. Issues: I'm using a DID from an ITSP configured on Line 1 of my SPA 9K and Gateway 1 of my SPA 3K. Once I receive an incoming call on that DID the configured "Contact List" rule routes the call by ringing to my extentions and also forwards it to AA as per the below rule. 201,202,203,hunt=next;5;3,cfwd=aa Things were working great until recently the ITSP introduced a big change in their SIP setup and implemented the Computer Assisted Dialing (CAD) or the CallBack feature. With this in order to make an outbound call, I have to dial the international number and then hang up at the beep. Then within 60 seconds, I receive an inbound call (Callback) from my own DID and on answering the call I hear the ringing tone on the international number I called. The call is answered by the other party and the conversation starts and ends the normal way. The problem I am facing with the introduction of this CAD or Callback feature is that if I am calling from one extention (say 201) in one of the room and I have to hang up the phone to receive the call back, the contact list rule comes into play and all the phones starts ringing. It is helpful and works well for any incoming VoIP calls but is annoying in case of outgoing/callback as for every call that I have to make all the phones ring (because of the callback) and then i have to be at the phone (for up to 60 secs) in order to answer the call once it rings or it will move to the other phone (as per the Contact List Rule). Also, since it is ringing all the phones, someone else in another room can answer the call mistaking it for an internal or external valid incoming call to that extention. Furthermore, if the call is not answered on any of the extentions for some reason (like if it was not answered within the time phone was ringing) then it is forwarded to AA and then dropped. 1) In order to avoid all this confusion, I would like to have a special Contact list rule or some kind of a solution that for this callback feature from the ITSP would only ring the extention that has actually initiated the call or is trying to make an international call using that ITSP account. All the other extentions should not ring. Could someone please shed some light? 2) On the other hand on my SPA 3K, once I'm calling from office to be connected to my PSTN-to-VoIP gateway and dial the international number using the same ITSP account, I cannot really hang up to receive a callback. Hanging up in this case would actually disconnect my office-to-home PSTN call. I would also want to know whether it is possible to workaround this problem and then actually be able to receive a callback on my office number from my home in order to complete the initiated VoIP international call? Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to explain the setup completely in order to clearly understand the problem. Waiting for a kind response from the community on both the issues. Kind Regards, -redmat Last edited by redmat : September 13th, 2008 at 09:47 PM. |

| 1) I'm afraid what you're looking for goes way beyond the capabilities of such a system. You'd need a fully fledged enterprise PBX that allows advanced scripting or CTI programming and then you need to have someone quite proficient in scripting/programming to set it all up. 2) How about disconnecting the call and setting up inbound call routing in a way that calls that have your own DID as callerid trigger a PSTN call to your office number? The only problem with that would be that the routing is static so you'd need to connect to the device's web interface to activate/deactivate that rule when you don't need it. And of course the call from your PSTN line to your office would be charged to your home line and not your office line.
