Angry SPA942 Message Waiting Indicator Unreliability using SPA400/9000

Hey all,

Having now got our new SPA400, SPA9000 and SPA942s running fairly reliably (..read as 'needs a reboot every day or so), a new issue has emerged where the 942s sometimes don't show that there are messages waiting. A quick press of the voicemail button proves the extension has new messages, but no light.

The only way I have found to resolve this issue is to reboot the individual phones, which is obviously not a satisfactory result.

Has anyone else experienced this behaviour? Or any suggestions on settings which may affect this functionality?

Also, anyone got exactly the same kit and does not have issues with 400/9000 registration? Ours is fine for about a day or so and then external callers do not hit the AA or cannot leave voicemail, even after resetting both the 'Register Expires' and 'Mailbox Subscribe Expires' settings to '30'.

Firmware as follows:

SPA400 - 1.0.0.7
SPA9000 - 5.1.6(a)
SPA942 - 4.1.18

Many thanks for any help!

Cheers,

Adam.

I'm running pretty much exactly what you are except I have two 400's. I run into exactly what you do with the aa and also 400's unregistring periodicaly. I have 5.1.5 software on my 842's. I haven't heard any complaints about the call waiting lamp.... maybe it's the 942 firmware??
I have created scripts run from a computer that reboot the 400's, the 900 and all the 942's every morning at 5:00am. Since I started doing this 2 weeks ago, I've only had 1 aa report, which I cleared by re-booting everthing again.
I intend on loading the latest firmware releases tonight. I will keep you posted if they help or not, or what new issues arise....Denis

I had the same issue ... ended up resolving it by flipping the phones / extX / share ext from shared to private ... I may still have an issue with the indicator light as one user claims the light won't turn off (other users appear to be functioning correctly) ... I will be testing later today.

Also, how did you fix your 9000/400 units needing the regular restart?

I didn't fix the reboot issue, I just set up scripts that I execute every morning at 5:00 am using the task scheduler in Windows XP. I am doing what everyone else does... I just automated it so I don't have to do it myself.

I was experiencing similiar issues with needing reboot, vm indicator and such. After spreading out the registration times for all devices much longer than the 60 sec, my system has stabilized and have not rebooted for several days. This may be just a fluke being I am a "novice" at this but pleased with how stable system has become.

SPA9000 5.1.6(a)
Linksys/SPA941-4.1.17
SPA400 Firmware Version: 1.0.0.7

I rolled back the 941's to this version so callers could get ringback when aa transfers a call....but will go back up once the firmware for the 9k resolves the issue. I have yet to read whether 5.1.7 fixes this.

I have now upgraded the firmware on all my equipment:

SPA9000 - 5.1.7
SPA400 - 1.0.0.9
SPA942 - 5.1.7

Still got some issues with stability as usually once a day I receive complaints from my users about not being able to dial out or our suppliers being able to dial in.

Rickl - The extns you altered were they already shared extns? And did they still function as shared extns after you changed the value to private?

Jeffl - Could you please post the registration values you use on all your kit, as mine are currently set to 60 secs so that could resolve my issues.

So glad that other people are having similar issue with this kit, as mine has nearly flew out the window a few times!!

Lastly, anyone know a fix for missed calls when using shared extns? It appears that if you have, for example, 5 phones sharing extn 100 and a call is connected on one of the phones, then the other 4 phones show a missed call??!!

WWW
Registration settings currently using:

SPA9k is set to 360 for line tab 1 VoIP
SPA400 is set to 3600 for line tab 2 PSTN
SPA941's including phone via VPN tunnel is set to 60

In reading many posts it has been suggested to use 60 versus default of 3600. The only reason I made these longer values was to figure out why system was acting up. Ever since making the changes issues have quieted down drastically and have not rebooted since last Friday.....can't explain why for I am a novice at this.

I have the same set up (SPA9000 + SPA400 + (4) SPA942) all with the latest firmware. I have not experienced the registration problem that others are reporting but I am having problems with the message waiting indicator. If I set it to yes on the 942 it stays on. If I set it to no it stays off. Am I missing something?

Thanks,
Allen
