Default SPA9000 IP Telephony System

After a tantalising glimpse at VON last year

described at http://www.tomsnetworking.com/Sectio...e138-page4.php

the SPA9000 has finally emerged on the Italian Linksys site http://www.linksys.it/products/prod_pages/spa-9000.htm

This page contains a link to the full spec sheet at http://www.linksys.it/products/ds/SPA9000-ds.pdf

The SPA9000 marries the rich feature set of legacy PBX telephone systems with the convenience and cost advantages of Internet telephony. It has common key system features such as an auto attendant, shared line appearances, three way call conferencing, music on hold, "follow me" calling, and many more. The SPA9000 opens up access to the benefits of Voice Over IP, including low cost long distance service, phone number portability, and one network for both voice and data.

The SPA9000 is so easy to configure that a fully working system can be setup up in minutes. New phones are automatically detected and registered when they are connected to the SPA9000. The SPA9000 has an integrated web server that allow features to be configured using a web browser. The web server has multiple levels of password protected access to user and service level features. Service level settings may be locked by the Internet Telephone Service Provider to ensure they are not accidentally corrupted. The Service Provider can remotely update the software and settings through a secure encrypted connection.

With it's integrated router, the SPA9000 can be either connected directly to the internet connection, or connected indirectly through another router. The SPA9000 has separate WAN and local network Ethernet ports. The WAN connection can be connect through DHCP, a fixed IP address, or through DHCP. The LAN port can assign IP addresses to IP telephones and computers using NAT and DHCP.

While the SPA9000 will work with any SIP compatible IP telephone, it is the ideal host for Linksys business telephones, such as the SPA941, SPA942, and SPA962. With little additional configuration, the SPA9000 supports the advanced features of these phones, such as shared line appearances, hunt groups, call transfer, call parking lot, and group paging. With its two FXS ports, the SPA9000 can support traditional analog devices such as telephones, answering machines, FAX machines, and media adapters.

Features

# Two FXS voice ports (RJ11) for analog phone, fax machines or media adapters
# Impedance Agnostic - Eight Configurable Settings
# One Ethernet WAN Port
# One Ethernet LAN Port
# 1 - SPA9000 System - Color: Platinum
# 1 - 5 Volt Power Adapter - 1.8 m (3 ft) Cord - Color: Black
# 1 - RJ45 Ethernet Cable - 1.8 m (3 ft) Cord - Color: Black
# 1- Quick Setup Guide

Anybody got one yet?

I also note that firmware for the SPA9000 has appeared on the Sipura support site.

Note the mention of the SPA942 and SPA-962 - anyone got info on these?

James

Hi James,

The SPA942 is a slightly different version of the SPA941 but with Dual Ethernet Ports and Power Over Ethernet.

As for the 962 - I've searched high and low and can't find anything on this other than the fact that it is a supported device on the SPA9000. Kerry Garrison over at VoipSpeak.net has been hinting that Linksys are going to be making some big announcements at CES this week (Thursday onwards) so I'd expect to see some announcement there.

If anyone has any more information I'd love to hear it,

Phil.

I've had a SPA9000 for a little while now, just couldn't talk about it until the embargo was lifted. You'll see a story on voxilla.com about it shortly.

No, the SPA9000 doesn't have an FXO port on it. However, you can integrate a SPA3000 with a SPA9000.

Default SPA9000 and SPA3000

Greetings PhoneBoy,

Any instructions or pointers to any sources explaining on how to achieve the above (integrating SPA 3000 with SPA 9000) would be really appreciated.

So far, I haven't had much luck in finding any help on integrating the two devices. I purchased my SPA 9000 just recently from Voxilla but having problems in configuring it and integrating it with my SPA 3000 due to the limited help available here on voxilla, on linksys/sipura websites or elsewhere on the internet.

In my setup I had my SPA 3000 running successfully, behind my Linksys WRT54G router. After getting my SPA 9000:

1. I just plugged its WAN/Internet port to one of my WRT54G's ports (in order to assign both my SPA3000 and SPA9000 IP addresses from the same subnet)

2. I then connected two analog phones to Phone1/FXS1 and Phone2/FXS2 ports of my SPA 9000 (I don't have any IP Phones yet in the setup)

3. After playing a little with the configurations for both FXS ports on SPA 9000, I was able to assign extention numbers and internally dial one phone from the other

4. I then configured a SIP account on Line1 and was able to dial-in to my Line1 account from the Internet, greeted by Auto Attendent and asked to dial the extention that I wish to reach

Now here it all ends. After I dial any of the two extentions of my two analog phones connected to SPA 9000, followed by a #, the AA prompt says that my call is being forwarded and then it immediately Hangs up. If I don't use # after dialing the extention number the AA takes it as an invalid extention and asks me to try again. Even after trying it many times, I am not able to reach or ring any of my Analog phones from the Internet. In addition, I am not able to make outgoing calls using my Line1 account from any of the connected analog phones on FXS1 and FXS2 (I am working on this issue though).

Can you please tell me on how to reach my SPA 9000's analog extentions while calling from the internet? Also, kindly let me know further how can I integrate my already running SPA 3000 with SPA 9000 to achieve maximum functionality of both the devices (Like using the PSTN/FXO related features of SPA3000 while using SPA9000. For example, calling my SPA9000 from the internet, being able to get any of the available extentions, and then allowed to make PSTN related calls through my SPA3000).

Regards,

-redmat

This is being discussed in a different thread already--the general "SPA9000 Announcement" thread.
