Default SPA9000/400 Auto Attendant Does Not Work

Hi All,

I apologise if the solution is posted else where but I have trawled for solutions but can't, at the moment, find any.

I have recently installed my 1st SPA9000/400 VoIP phone system with a mere 3 SPA921 phones attached. Initial set-up went without a hitch, apart from a mismatch between wizard Ver 2.1.0.0 and the firmware in the SPA921's.

Anyway, I have tried to setup up the Advanced Auto Attendant without success. I have recorded 3 custom prompts with the analogue phone and which according to the web user I/F the system has recorded and stored these prompts into the correct slots, ie, 5,6,& 7. Using the wizard how do I actually access these prompts and make them active. It seems to me that part of the Admin guide is missing as it states that if you wish to use custom prompts got to step 14 on page XYZ. The instructions at this point merely say submit changes and exit !!!!

The next problem is that I don't believe that the auto attendant is actually kicking in. The system is set to ring reception extension for 20 seconds and then go to the AA. It doesn't, instead it goes to the reception phones mail box, "The person at extension XXX is unavailable leave a message or press #".

What am I missing out ? I have had calls raised with Linksys over the past week and although they do reply the solutions they offer are simply what I have already done and tried, or, refer to admin guide page ABC which again doesn't work as it just says submit changes and exit.

Any help would be Greatly appreciated.
Thank You.

Time to look at your SPA9000 settings directly with a web browser instead of guessing what the Wizard has done. Go to the SIP settings page and look at the aa script. The voice prompts used are listed there. You can change them directly if you want to experiment.

As for the call forward to the aa if the extension does not answer, you need to understand that there are two competing cfwd mechanisms: the one used by the SPA9000 (the aa or Contact List) and the one used by the phone itself. Both are running simultaneously on a timer, and whichever one times out first will do the call forward. It sounds like the one on your phone is timing out first and doing the transfer to voicemail.

Thank You,
We are expecting delivery of another SPA9000/400 system tommorrow. When this arrives I plan to upload the config files to it that I saved from the non working system. That should then give me an identical system on the bench as per what my client has and I will look into the areas that you have mentioned. I would like to try and solve it off site and then upload the working config file to the clients system via remote admin.

Thank You
