Default SPA400 Read Only File System

Hi -
My SPA400 stopped behaving last week, with no apparent cause. It is at firmware 1.0.0.10 (haven't had a need to upgrade - if it ain't broke don't fix it) Now, I cannot leave new messages, and I cannot delete messages. I can listen to any message without any problem. If I delete a message, it says that it's deleted, but going back into the mailbox gives the same number of new messages. The event logs are showing the following curious entries when attempting to record a message:

5390- VMS 4 -- Playing 'beep' (language 'en')

458- VMS 3 Error opening text file for output

2- VMS 4 -- Recording the message

18- VMS 3 Unable to open file /var/mnt/spa400vm/var/spool/voicemail/pbx-sipura-test/2001/inbox/msg0003.gsm: Read-only file system

10- VMS 4 -- x=0, open writing: /var/mnt/spa400vm/var/spool/voicemail/pbx-sipura-test/2001/inbox/msg0003 format: gsm, (nil)

22- VMS 3 Error creating writestream '/var/mnt/spa400vm/var/spool/voicemail/pbx-sipura-test/2001/inbox/msg0003', format 'gsm'

20- VMS 4 -- Executing [1;36;40mHangup[0;37;40m("[1;35;40mSIP/SPA9000-e741[0;37;40m", "[1;35;40m[0;37;40m") in new stack

And when trying to delete:
1602- VMS 3 unlink(/var/mnt/spa400vm/var/spool/voicemail/pbx-sipura-test/2001/inbox/msg0000.gsm) failed: Read-only file system

62- VMS 3 rename(/var/mnt/spa400vm/var/spool/voicemail/pbx-sipura-test/2001/inbox/msg0001.gsm,/var/mnt/spa400vm/var/spool/voicemail/pbx-sipura-test/2001/inbox/msg0000.gsm) failed: Read-only file system

1288- VMS 3 Failed to write frame

62- VMS 3 rename(/var/mnt/spa400vm/var/spool/voicemail/pbx-sipura-test/2001/inbox/msg0001.gsm,/var/mnt/spa400vm/var/spool/voicemail/pbx-sipura-test/2001/inbox/msg0000.gsm) failed: Read-only file system

10- VMS 3 rename(/var/mnt/spa400vm/var/spool/voicemail/pbx-sipura-test/2001/inbox/msg0002.gsm,/var/mnt/spa400vm/var/spool/voicemail/pbx-sipura-test/2001/inbox/msg0001.gsm) failed: Read-only file system

10- VMS 3 unlink(/var/mnt/spa400vm/var/spool/voicemail/pbx-sipura-test/2001/inbox/msg0002.gsm) failed: Read-only file system

Has my USB stick gone bad? I put it into my computer & was able to view, play, and delete some old messages. One of the mailboxes had 99 old messages, and I thought that might be a problem, but even after deleting them the errors continue.

Any thoughts? Would upgrading firmware help? My concern would be that I don't want to upgrade a non-working system if I can help it.

Ok, so maybe I need to update firmware. I found this note

Corrected a problem that caused the USB drive to function in read-only mode. (ID: CSCsl57870)

in the release notes for 1.0.1.1. Is it reasonable to assume that it remains fixed in the most current firmware as well?

If I upgrade the SPA400 firmware, do I then need to update my SPA9000 PBX & SPA922 & SPA942 phones as well?

Also, is there any way to view the details of CSCsl57870? My technical mind wants to know...

Thanks!

I figured I might as well finish this conversation with myself, and save it for posterity.

After upgrading the firmware, I was indeed able to delete messages, and record new messages. Nothing else to report - thanks!
