Hello... I recently bought a SPA-400. Upon installing it and following the instructions, I used the SPA9000 Wizard (I also own a SPA 9000) to try and configure it. The SPA9000 wizard informed me that I must upgrade the SPA400's firmware to continue. I downloaded and installed the firmware, but I got a message that the firmware upgrade failed. And now, my SPA400 won't get an IP address from the DHCP server. The network link blinks on/off at about .5 second intervals, and the four pots line LEDs are blinking as well. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks, VaPilot75

Uhh... DHCP for a server? There aren't enough w's on my keyboard for a long enough ewwww. Never ever use DHCP for any server device.. it leads to disaster. The first thing you should do with any telephone device that is not a phone is give it a fixed IP. That usually requires a reboot and after that you are ready for basic configuration. Which browser did you use to upgrade? In the past, I've experienced some difficulties with browsers other than IE (so basically whenever I upgrade the firmware I have to switch browsers). That being said, I don't recall seeing a factory reset button so I'd get in touch with Linksys support (preferably some form of support where you don't have to wait days.. so try the phone or chat) and if they can't tell you how to do a factory reset, rma looks like the only option.

What version of the installation wizard are you using? Ver 1.1.0.6 has some changes to "find" the SPA400 if the IP address changes during installation. Try 1.1.0.6 and reply to the thread. Here is the link for the Installation wizard: Linksys.com Downloads/Drivers

Thanks for the advice... The SPA9000 wizard I was using was 1.1.0.6, downloaded from Linksys today. That was the original culprit. And while I know DHCP isn't a good option, I actually thought that instead of jumping around today, I would follow the instructions word for word to reduce the risk of operator-induced error I have also tried the Arp trick. I can set the static route just fine, but pining returns no response. Still, the LEDs on the SPA400 are blinking at regular intervals. Linksys support told me it was corrupted firmware. Brandon
